JollySipper Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 I've been looking around for a large scale kit to build. I tried a couple 1/16 kits, but quickly learned that they needed a lot of added detail to make them more realistic. I've seen 1/20 kits by Lindberg that are very interesting subject matter. The Syclone and Dodge Stealth caught my attention. Are these decent kits? They would have to be more modern tooling that the large kits that I've tried because of when the vehicles were being made. Anyone build any of the 1/20 Lindberg kits and care to share pics? Thanks for any and all help.....
Ctmodeler Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Wonder the same myself . I say either way just build it ! Lol
Mark Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 They are pretty much the same as a typical Monogram 1/24 scale car kit from that era...just bigger. The first-generation S-10 pickup kit is a bit simpler than the Monogram (now Revell) 1/25 scale version.
Oldcarfan27 Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 The early Lindbergs were kinda simple in the details. The Stealth was the first and the S10 came out second. The Stealth was an R/T but doesn't include the turbo. Looks good on the shelf. Lo-pro tires are blocky and don't represent the shape of tires with air in them. Later kits, Explorer, Toyota Hilux 4x4 and Jeep Grand Cherokee were much better in terms of detail and tires. Never had the Camaro, Firebird or others, so I can't comment on them. They're usually dirt cheap as they are kinda orphans in the model kit world. If you thought there was "scale-bigotry" between 1/24 and 1/25 builders, nobody even wants to touch these kits. Honestly, I think they'd fit in well with the old MPC 1/20 scale series.
kelson Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 I'm working right now on the Camaro SS and Z10 pickup,no real issues so far, hopefully have them finished by next week.?
JollySipper Posted July 26, 2021 Author Posted July 26, 2021 Thanks a bunch for the replies, fellas..... Curtis, those are looking really good! Seems like a lot of stuff is molded in under the hood, which IS like the old Monogram kits. I may still check into the Stealth even though it is missing the turbo....... Thanks again....
cobraman Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 I built the Nissan pick up awhile back to do a replica of my BIL's truck and the kit was very good IMO.
Tabbysdaddy Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 I built the GMC Sonoma and the Ford Explorer when they first came out. I liked them a lot. Lots of parts and lots of decals. I need to repair the Explorer and they're pretty dusty.
