mark 23 Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 I'm looking for GM Marina blue rattle can spray paint or a close match to it. Any suggestions ?
Draggon Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Is this close? https://www.amazon.com/Dupli-Color-EBGM05397-Metallic-Exact-Match-Automotive/dp/B00407V3KA/ref=asc_df_B00407V3KA/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312061936460&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2260478379065397839&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032047&hvtargid=pla-571104517145&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=63195598478&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312061936460&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2260478379065397839&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032047&hvtargid=pla-571104517145
Snake45 Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 That Duplicolor looks a bit light. The Model Master Nassau Blue Metallic was in the ballpark--closest I've seen, anyway, if a bit light. You might be able to still find a can somewhere if you're lucky. Otherwise, you'll have to go to Model Car World or one of the other specialty paint vendors.

I could get a can mixed at an auto paint store, but I don't want to pay $30.00 & only use 1/4 of the can. Also been looking for Duplicoler with no luck either.
Mike 1017 Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 I have a can of Nassau Blue Metallic. I decanted it and painted a GTO with it. I would assume that there is enough to decant and airbrush 1 car for sure If you want it let me know Mike

64Comet404 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Tamiya TS Alpine Blue or TS-54 Blue are reasonably close to Marina Blue, but are a touch light on the green (to my eyes, anyway).
DiscoRover007 Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 I'd use Tamiya Mica blue or Testors Nassau blue overcoated with Tamiya Clear blue

Mine's lighter than Marina Blue for sure, but yours looks a LOT lighter. I wonder why.

This is Testors Nassau Blue clearcoated with Wet Look Clear. Note the difference between the indoor/outdoor pic. Same kit/camera/settings etc. Looks closer to Snake's example. There should be some Testors Nassau Blue out there somewhere if you keep searching.
Snake45 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Mine's not clear-coated or polished at all, as I was going for a 5-7 year old factory paint job that hadn't had much love. I think the MM paints do a nice job of this out of the can.
DiscoRover007 Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 (edited) I had this same dilemma months ago and ended up using Tamiya Light Metallic Blue. Its pretty close to Marina Blue. Nassau blue is a nice color and a factory GM code. However it is noticeably different than Marina blue and is not present on 1967 and onward corvettes. Nassau has more of a frost to it, where as Marina is more "blue". Edited August 10, 2021 by DiscoRover007
Snake45 Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 This seems to be in the ballpark: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/duplicolor-perfect-match-paint-aerosol-intense-blue-pearl-8-oz.-bcc0422/99984941-P?searchTerm=spray paint
mark 23 Posted August 17, 2021 Author Posted August 17, 2021 I found some Marina Blue spray paint at Model Car World Finishes. Also ordered a can of Gurney Blue for my next Cuda Trans Am build.

ZTony8 Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 TS 54 is closer to GM Maui blue used on the early 90s Chevy Lumina.

Well of course you did, but that's cheating! We thought you were trying to get there with something readily available and relatively inexpensive.
