'69 Charger Red(ux)

Haven't been on the forum in awhile, but I've been working on this kit for a few weeks, posting to my instagram account.  When I was a kid, must have been 7 almost 8, my Dad asked what I wanted for my birthday, and I told him I wanted this red '69 charger kit I'd seen at Toys 'r us.  If memory serves, I meant the Monogram 1/32 scale "Hemi Charger."

Either I wasn't clear, or he couldn't find it, but either way, at my birthday party, I opened up a DOH Charger kit.  Which was fine, i'd built a few of them by that point.  He says "open the box" and inside, nestled in tissue paper, was a built-up kit, finished in Testors' red enamel.  Dad had built it in his usual style which was pretty clean, with some paint detail.   I don't recall exactly what happened to the model, but it's long gone.

I picked up an original issue Dukes kit for a reasonable price awhile back, and had decided to build one as close as I could recall to the one my Dad gave me.  Then I got a deal on another one. as well as the 1997 reissue, and got some more ideas.   I'm almost done with the replica build, and then I'll build the same kit, but the way I usually build now, with some more detail.

I freehand painted the chrome trim with Testors silver enamel, because that’s how the original was.  It’s been a long time since I’ve done that, and it’s much tougher than I remembered, even with the magnifier.  All in all it looks a lot like I remember though.
