Thanks guys. I built the Foose kit engine & figured it fits so I might as well use it. Painted the aircleaner and valve covers to match the truck, I think it looks ok. I mounted it in the chassis and built a driveshaft. I just have to build the exhaust and the chassis should be done. I worked on the grill too, it was a little rough & the lights didn't look right so I made new ones.

Hi Mark!! Haven’t checked in for a bit, this is really looking awesome. Outstanding work as always my friend! The colours are absolutely perfect, engine with splashes of body colour is a nice touch. Of course your world class weathering ties it all together.

Thanks guys, I did a little more weathering on the front and every time I look at it, it seemed like it was missing something. I found this old 56 Chevy bumper and it fit the curve of the truck pretty good. I tweaked it here and there and painted it white. I still have to weather it but I think I like it. I'm not sure if it's going on the truck or not, I'd like some opinions from you guys. What do you think, with it or without it?

It's true that the bumper fits the truck pretty well.  It may be a bit massive but I agree that a bumper would make the front end more complete.  I'm not helping you much but I must say that you did a great job on the body modification and that your weathering work is as usual in a class of its own! ?

Were it up to me I would leave the front bumper off all together. The OEM bumper I think was much like a Ford pick up of the time and that might look good with a little bend in it and scratched up. Would a Push Bumper be a consideration? The colors and the body shape looks just like the ones I remember seeing years ago.

I haven't had much bench time lately, been busy with getting ready for winter and for the last 2 days I helped my friend strip the roof on his lake house and reshingle it. This afternoon is cleanup day, YAAAAAA!?

Thanks for the advice on the bumper everyone. The more I look at the bumper the more I think you guys are right, it's just too big for this truck. I do think it needs something so I'll revisit that later. I did manage to ruin more on the paint job and started building a wrecker boom. I'm not positive I'll be using the wrecker boom or not but I'll build it anyway because I can always put it in something else. If I don't put the boom in I'll be using these decals for the doors.

Looking good Mark.  I personally like bumpers on my trucks.  Just like the looks of them.  Maybe if you removed the vertical pieces it wouldn'nt look so big.  I see those Rusty's decals used here and there.  I still have mine from the AMT 50 Chevy Truck.

I hate rust on my real car... but it's more than impressive and beautiful on a model car!  Especially when it's done like this!  Impressive!!! ?

I hear you Francis, rust on my 1:1s sucks & there is plenty of it here in N.Y. Thank you for the compliments, it's crazy to me that you and all the other amazing builders here think anything I build is impressive.

Thanks Bob, I cut down the Foose bumper & it looks pretty good. I was looking for gas station decals & saw those Rusty's ones & figured it would be funny on one of my rusty junkers.

Outstanding work love the weathering and the Rusty theme

Thanks Jeff, now I just have to figure out what to put in the bed for "rust proofing" stuff.?

Well, the decals are on and the wrecker boom is in the parts box. I hacked off the running board brackets because they looked funny with the truck being so low, plus I'm getting lazy and didn't want to build them.? I narrowed the Foose bumper and after I weather it a little that will be done. Now that it will be a regular pickup I had to make a tailgate. I hacked up the resin one and made a simple one to fit, nothing fancy. The letters on the resin one aren't right for the truck but I cut them out and put them on it anyway. Little by little it's getting there, thanks again to everyone for all the interest and comments!

I’m in 100% agreement on both counts here. Real rust sucks, but Mark, your rust /weathering is just awesome. My 2 cents on the front bumper, I think it needs something, and I know whatever you decide it will look perfect. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Steve, I added some bumperettes to it. We'll see if it looks right after some weathering.

Mark,  I wasn't meaning anything bad about your truck so I hope you didn't read it that way.  Just looks like that bottle of BSI is setting in the bed of the truck.  Looks kinda kewl.

I finished the tailgate up & added the bumperettes. Still need to paint the bumper and do a little more weathering. If we get a 1/2 way good day again I'll get the interior painted. It was 65 degrees yesterday and when I woke up this morning we had an inch of snow. Tis the season!
