junkyardjeff Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 I picked up a rebuilder and was thinking about making it 2wd so could they have came that way from the factory, would like to make it stock and even thinking about using the Chevy II six and make it a cheap version. I know the 73 and up could be 2wd but do not ever remember the early ones coming that way.
keyser Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 (edited) Yes. Only built 985 2wd in 1970 based on what I’ve seen. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=188820 Edited September 11, 2021 by keyser
mikemodeler Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Had a neighbor years ago who had a 2wd K5 Blazer, 1972 model year IIRC. This was back when the 4wd craze was in full swing and we thought he was nuts but looking back, that thing was COOL!
Jordan White Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Yeah it looks like 1970 was the first year that 2WD was offered from what I am seeing.
Oldcarfan27 Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Regardless, if you're going to customize it anyway, historical accuracy is a moot point. Back in the 90s, shops were converting, then new, 4x4 Blazers into 2wd and then lowering them as per the truck trend at the time.
junkyardjeff Posted September 14, 2021 Author Posted September 14, 2021 I was curious if any were made since I never seen one.

keyser Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 (edited) Link had production numbers, real owners, and verifiable stuff. Sorry to help. ? OP asked. Not you. C/K is convention btw for that era. Not a universal mystery. ??? Lol. I had just replied to your FE intake thread with a pic. I’ll go delete it, unreliable forum info. Don’t want you angry.
