*Replacement Dog Tags*

Hey fellows. I got out of the USAF in 1976. In 1978 my apartment was broken into and my Dog Tags were stolen. I don't think the goverment will replace them unless your still on active duty. Anyone ever have to get a replacement set?

Do an online search , there are several places that make replacement tags .  I was in the USAF during same time period and found the correct "stamped" replacements . Be sure to read the fine print , some only make the newer "embossed" dog tags .  And no I don't remember where I bought mine .

Bob check with your local VFW or American Legion hall. They should know.

Why on earth would they have any need for YOUR tags? They planning on pretending they served?

That's just low. If they understood what they mean, they'd have no use for them.

I got my replacement tags from a Vendor at the March Meets several years ago.

He had a Vietnam Era Tag Embosser and made 1970s style tags. He traveled up and down the West Coast going to Car Shows, and Swap meets (not just Car Swap Meets, but all kinds) selling tags. He always had a line waiting for tags.

I know this doesn't help you much, but there are folks out there doing it.

I just googled replacement dog tags and came up with a lot of places that make them. As an example, Armydogtags.com gives you options for period of service and branch.

A local American Legion has a dog tag making trailer next to the building.  They make then while you wait.
