Scott8950 Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Some pretty wild cars. I enjoy looking at these cars and how creative they were back then. Safety wasn't the first priority ? 1
Straightliner59 Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 Speaking of a lack of safety--two of those photos are of the car that Pete Robinson was killed in. These old photos are a great inspiration for new projects--since we're all struggling to find something to work on! ?
iBorg Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 Dan, I don't think that was the car. Pete died in 1971 driving a full bodied car with a weird mid frame downforce system. Something broke, and all ............broke loose. A series of failures resulting in Pete perishing in the carnage.
Little Timmy Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 Thanks for posting these. Its amazing what you can build with a little imagination ...... and spare pipe..... and a few bicycle parts ...

You're right. You saying that reminded me of just such a conversation on the Standard 1320. In my defense, it was over twenty years ago!
Zippi Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 Nice old pics. Got me to thinking about the time I spent at the local drag strip and the things we use to do. Yeah.....I don't remember even thinking about safty. Just going fast.
Painted Black Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 * This one really caught my attention, look at the front springs, just doesn't seem possible that they could be doing anything except holding the axle to the frame..crazy man!! Then theres the rear shackle!!!!!

cobraman Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 Some weird and crazy cars here. Thanks for posting, very interesting.

paul alflen Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 The"Home Made Hell" Falcon is still around. It was at Back to the Bricks, car show, in Flint, Michigan this summer!
