I began this build back in 2015 or so, right after Revell released this kit and Greg Wann started casting the corrected body made by Mike Schnur.

And to the meat and potatoes..........wanted to modernize the car as if I were building one myself. First item was getting the engine from the Revell Boss 302 to fit.

Had to shave the trans down quite a bit for clearance as well as highly modifing the front crossmember/suspension to get the engine low enough for clearance. 20210912_145832.thumb.jpg.d1248d93c3a3553bb0ffc9afa1e0561b.jpg

With motor and trans underway, the color choosen is Sonic Blue from Scalefinishes. Primed the interior tub and chassis then applied color.

As commented, getting the 302 in the engine bay wasn't the easiest.20210911_212734.thumb.jpg.3a3458401b9e1e32ee471ad603566a14.jpg

Before any paint was applied I mocked this up and even though it fits, the brake booster is an obstical. Ended up cutting it down and that created the clearance I need for the cam cover to fit.

Another aspect that I wasn't sure of was the exhaust manifolds. The ones from the Boss are a 2 peice unit and I wanted to use a set that would work out best with the factory exhaust. Got lucky on this but had to recess the frame rails a little to get them in and the motor sitting right. 20210914_221202.thumb.jpg.045095acb54f67c83894845e91b766d4.jpg

This is going to be a little animal. The booster doesn't fit the Coyote swap in a 1:1 either, so they use a Hydroboost system from a Cobra. I made one for an AMT '93 F350 truck, the car versions were essentially the same. PC300135.jpeg.911ef1513b420c27304545d7559f1ba6.jpeg

Added the cam covers, used the Sonic Blue on the centers of them to bring out some detail. 20210925_200745.thumb.jpg.74b860ecc034a718c8891dfebe15ef57.jpgAlso started working on the chassis with getting the exhaust installed.20210923_190219.thumb.jpg.fbfa5655dc1fb3965c50b1abd83ea3e8.jpg

Daaaang that's a tight fit on the engine. I'd hate to have to change the plugs on that one.

Nice looking chassis too. The graphite color works on the exhaust but I think I would dry brush some silver or aluminum highlights on it.

I love this. The Fox body back when new with the 5.0l was a tight fit, these new "302" engines are even bigger due to the head design. I would hate to swap this in the real world. In 1:25 plastic is easy to hack and it does not have to really fit or work.

I will be watching this very cool build.

Time for an update......

Wanted to get another aspect of this build moving along...the interior.

Laid down some embossing powder on the interior pan then sprayed the floor and other interior peices with color. BMF was used to outline the black accents on the door panels as well as the dash and center console. I will be the first to say I'm not good with this stuff but figured if I need to improve skill just bite the bullet.

Until next update......

the modern 5.0 fits quite well in the fox platform actually.

After a little time at the bench I was able to get the chassis just about dialed in, front and rear suspension, sway bar and shocks in the rear. Front has to be put in after the interior and chassis go together. 20210925_221514.thumb.jpg.6fb8cd423541fe0faa6a4f3e8c579ff9.jpg20210925_200753.thumb.jpg.5840db86d5213a51336ac4362301ade2.jpg20210925_221601.thumb.jpg.ef425571d7d37df6fe20c60d96a851ce.jpg20211010_172251.thumb.jpg.0eb16941ce6f5cd869737d36e4812281.jpg
