Here’s my build of the ‘94 Mustang Cobra Indy Pace car. Overall this is a very well designed kit and it goes together very nicely. The body is painted Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red over red oxide primer. It was polished with Tamiya Finish compound, followed by a coat of Pledge floor gloss. Interior and top are Tamiya XF-93 Light Brown, along with semigloss black accents, with a single coat of floor gloss on the vinyl and leather surfaces. Wheels are TS-30 Silver Leaf. The decals were very thin and fragile but I managed to get them down without any tears, applied before the floor gloss coat. I’m very pleased with this one, and I’m one model closer to my collection of every Mustang generation!

Very nice.  I built that kit when it first came out.  I share your enthusiasm for Mustangs and have some gaps in my collection also of building one of each generation.

Thanks! I have most of the kits I need already, just need the time to build them. I’m only missing the current generation (not sure if I want the Tamiya GT4 race version or that too-simple Revell snap kit) and a couple facelift years if I decide to get that granular.

It’s crazy there’s not a kit of the latest generation of a stock  (GT or Shelby or Bulllitt or Mach1) in kit form.  I guess it’s less expensive to reissue the same old AMT and MPC molds over and over and over.  I’m sure it does not help that there are some inexpensive diecasts that require no modeling skills and of course have far fewer parts and no engines.

Attached pictures of this kit I built over 20 years ago.  Looking at my paint back then yeah there is a lot of orange peel and I did not put on the red light bar on the  roll bar.  I guess I thought that was only on the cars used to pace the 500.  Not sure what red I used but it’s a lot darker compared to pictures of the real car yours is spot on.  Overall it’s a very nice kit and hard to believe they are eligible to be a classic car (25 years) in most states.

Beautiful build. As someone who is a fan of Mustangs,  I see a few old friends in your lineup.  Having owned a 95 convertible I can tell there is something off about the model, but a beautiful build non the less.  We have owned an 83, 85 convertible,  95 convertible,  and currently a 97, also have a 66 project that I am seriously considering putting the 5spd, and 8.8 disc brake posi in out of the 97.

Hi Zack.  I complimented your Cobra a while back and about how good the Future looks.   Did you polish it after applying it?  I'm thinking about used it on a current build.
