happy grumpy Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 This a build I did prior to the duel truck from the movie ( I will post it soon ). I wanted to practice my weathering skills before I took on that project. It was a practice run to see how I could make as close as I could get to the truck in the movie. AMT's big rigs are no walk in the park, the instructions are hit and miss and not being an expert at big trucks, I did my best to put it together. the mufflers are turned aluminum. The hoses are coiled network cables. I don't know if there is a specific color for these. Not sure either about the engine color but I like it yellow. If somebody knows please tell me in the comments. as always , thanks for looking 2
the goon Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Man I hate people with talent ?. Another great build. Mark
TruckerAL Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Looks fantastic! As for the engine color, Peterbilt had all of their engines ordered in white, or Detroit alpine green?
grodudulle77 Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Very realistic weathering, this dirty ol’ Pete has an awesome look !! ??
Jim B Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 That's awesome, Mario. The weathering is great. Looking forward to your Duel Peterbilt.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 The weathering looks spot on! Looks awesome! Nice work! I like it!
trick my mixer Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Nice weathering. Has a real look to it.
Metal Man Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Impressive to say the least! Your detailing is seen and appreciated - love the fuel smear / stain on the tanks amongst other things! Quality build - well done Sir!!
1959scudetto Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Excellent weathering on a very nice model, Mario - only the license plates look a bit too clean to me.
vincen47 Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Nice weathering. Looks like it would get your hands dirty if you touched it. Like TruckerAl said, a Pete in that era would usually have the engine in white, regardless of manufacturer. The OEM color would be green in the Detroits, and some were installed in that color. That being said, when it comes to old workhorses like this one, it’s possible to make up a plausible story on how the shop that rebuilt the engine had leftover Cat yellow paint… 1
Rockford Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Looks great, that's a truck that's earned it's living.
steveracer Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Very nice! Glad that you still have green on the trees up there...LOL!
