1959scudetto
2 old builts from 1985 and 1988: Italeri's Ferrari Supercars - the 288 GTO from 1984 and its follower, the awesome F40 from 1987. Both spraypainted in red from the can, bodies well proportioned (at least to my eye), biggest flaw: the wheels are totally wrong - same dimensions front and rear! Another issue with the F 40 is the engine cover - you have to cut it open, and then it does not close/fit well - both built out-of-the-box. Anyway, here are the pics (taken yesterday): Here is the 288 GTO: and now, the F 40: this is how the other drivers would have seen it (if they ever did):

happy grumpy
Call me old school but for me a Ferrari true color is red. Of course they are still beautiful in any color, but red and Ferrari seem to go together. you have made really nice models here.

Thank you all for the comments, guys - I normally try to avoid the almost boring red with Ferraris, but these 2 had to be painted in that color. Thanks, Gary - also have the Italeri racing version in my stash (Mike Q. had an article about this in MRRN's first issue, IIRC) - so these had to be built stock (a Fujimi street curbside of the F40 is also waiting - this one has correct wheels)

Thank you Peter, back then I used car laquers from the spraycan bought in automotive shops (mainly duplicolor and Auto-K, both German companies). As this was more than 30 years ago and the paints have been used up long time ago, I can't remember the exact descriptions any more.

Well whatever they were/are they seem to be really close to the Ferrari red and seem to have held up really well too.
Dominik
Both of them looking very good. Nice and shiny. the 288GTO is delicious , the F40 awesome. till today (in my opinion) supercars with the "must have" fact

Thank you all for the comments, guys - these 2 are my favorites of the newer Ferrari "Supercars" and I happened to find a red color that comes close to the originals. (I have Tamiya's F50 and the Enzo in my stash also, but don't like them)
89AKurt
I assume they are Revell kits? I've done the Fujimi kit last century, wheel/tires are correct. I've not built a few kits because of the same size front/rear. Came out nice.

These are from the original Italeri releases - they wer later reissued by Revell AG (Germany).
