Engine is in and I started the chassi plumbing. Front suspension is also sorted. Rear axle seems to be done and driveshaft in CF Is in place.

Will pause this for a while so i can make a Porsche 911 Turbo for my friend that hav his 40 birthday in april.

  • 8 months later...

8 months later and the Impala is back on the table. The Porsche is done as so is a Jordan F1 car, super productive year so far, and I have also made progress on my c5R and C5R race truck.

made my first cost of primer and have corrected allot of old mistakes and I also removed the door handles since they felt so 1980’s. So I will put some others in there from the PB.

I have also started to put the interior in place, and started to see how much interference I do have with the cage and seats… will be needing some mods as it seems..

Love it!! This beast is really coming together Anton. I assume you printed those fantastic rear tires? Very nice ? The interior is really well detailed.

Thanks Steve! Great to hear from you, as you said in your thread, it’s been a while, but that’s summer right! Yes the rear tires are printed and designed by me, but I realize that they look so naked without any tire text engraved so I might need to put some stickers there.. might have to buy Hoosier or some other nice ones instead of the traditional good year. What’s your 2 cents, tire decals or not?

Wicked looking Impala, Anton.  My boss back in the day had a 1996 Impala - similar (same?) body lines as your build, but that would be where the similarity ends!

Thanks! It was probably mor or less as this one yes :) I have done some changes to resemble an Impala here in Sweden that had the world record at 402m with a caravan behind. ? he had replaced his front and rear bumper with what I have modeled here and mine also have a custom spoiler but other than that they should have been a like except for everything else as you pointed out ? haha

Made some progress, got some brakes and other engine parts prepped and ready for paint but not much to show. But I did some minor additions to the interior added the switch board to the left of the steering wheel IMG_1570.thumb.jpeg.0e4c2a0202e84f0802d2cfe6d7566184.jpeg

IMG_1571.thumb.jpeg.1b43ea13e12af182509968ee974bf398.jpeg

. And just a better shot of the engine with a better camera.

Geez, where did you find (or how did you make!) the switches??

I printed it, it even got the switch in it, it was hard to paint it. I got the basse model at grabbad but modified it to be able to print it, I have the file if you would like to have it.

Haven’t made the leap to a printer yet, so I’ll pass for know, but good to know - switches are a nice detail!

I made some progress on this bad beast, the lights and lenses have bugged me since the start but I have been pushing it forward.. I made one set where I made a normal reflector but then I tried to use the reflector as it came and just sand the glass so it’s “clear” looks better I think.

only test fitted of course.

Madde some progress. Got the brake parts for the front along with my new seats painted. Installed the front brakes and wheels. I also installed the fans with cables and then installed the radiator and Intercooler permanently. I also painted the battery and installed it.

I have made progress over the last week but not much to show. But both hood and trunk are now secured with magnets. I also made a structural brace based on the 1:1 underneath the hood. And after almost destroying the hood since it’s so thin I decided that I needed a power bouldge on the hood so here is my first take on that. Lot of finishing needed.
