Never had an issue with lint sticking to lint screen. Try licking fingers to pull them off. Definitely DO NOT use Pam or WD-40 or anything flammable!! Newer screens are not metal but more heavy duty plastic type.

Gas or electric dryer? Hose vent to dryer cleaned out? Metal lint screen? It can be a number of things.

The lint now sticks to my screen, and won't peel off cleanly.

Any thoughts? PAM and WD-40 seem messy and flammable.

The problem was likely triggered bu some change in your laundering routine. Have you changed the detergent or softener, or anything else?

Like others said, I would avoid coating the screen  with any oily substance.  Not only it is flammable, it will likely cause more sticking.

I have a drier that is around 40 years old. It has metal screen and the lint comes off really easily.  I changed the screen about 5 years ago, just because it was ripped in few spots.

You could always just rinse the lint off in your sink or bathtub. The lint should rinse right off.  I would put some sort of a screen in the drain so the wet lint does not go down the drain (or do this outside using a garden hose).  Then take a brush and some dishwashing detergent to clean the screen and remove all remains of the oily stuff you put on it.  Hopefully, that will take care of the problem.

A Swiffer refills will get it off and is great for lint. My wife keeps a box of them over the dryer and cleans around the door.

Gas Dryer. About 15 years old

No changes to my laundry routines. Screen has been washed several times. I've not put anything on the screen. Even after washing, the lint still sticks. I have not tried Dawn. I will.

Thanks!

We clean the dryer screen after every using. Just drag your finger across and around the surface and it seems to all come off in one little ball. I think that the static cling sheets in the dryer may help with the static electricity issue. If you don't already, be sure to use some of those brushes to clean out the dryer hoses from time to time and the area where the exhaust goes under the dryer before the rear exit is something that can get build up over time.

Check to make sure your vent is not clogged. A lack of air movement could cause the lint screen to plug.

Also try rubbing a dryer sheet on the lint screen, that may help by adding a soap-like coating to the screen..

Good luck,

I had/have the same problem because of the dryer sheets. You can't see it, but the sheets leave a thin coat of clear wax over the screen especially if you use more than 1 per load. If you put water on the screen, it won't fall through. As suggested above, take it out and scrub it weekly.

Yeah, what they said! ? I use a used dryer sheet (one from the load of dry laundry) to “scoop” up the lint from the trap (metal lint trap). Hope my $.02 helps.

I tried rubbing both sides of my lint screen with a fresh dryer sheet before drying today's load. It actually seemed to make removing the lint easier later!

Idk,i sometimes run it under some water if peeling it all off doesn’t work. That always works for me.It should just clean right off.
