Zippi Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 I have an LG front load washer that makes a buzzing noise in the rinse cycle for about 10 seconds then stops. I assume a relay or something is about to fail.
peteski Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 New appliances are packed with all sorts of computers and other electronics. Good luck with it. I dread the day when I no longer can keep my 35+ year Kenmore top-loader (with all mechanical controls) running. It was designed to wash clothes and that is what it does. No fancy computers or sensors to break. It does not play songs at the end of the cycle, or make chirping noises.
espo Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 You might contact LG with your problem. Depending on the age of the unit they may or may not be of any help.
mchook Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Does your machine fill quickly with just cold water? If not, it will make a buzzing sound because the water can't get in as fast as it should. If you have it set on cold rinse it will do the same thing. If it's set on "warm" (fill or rinse) you wont notice the sound because it's just pulling more hot water than cold. I would check the cold water line. Sometimes you pick up dirt in your cold water and it gets stuck in the screen in the back of the machine where hose connects. Turn off the water and take the hose off the back of the machine. Use a small screw driver and pull out the screen , if it's full of junk just wash it out and replace it. DON'T leave it out or dirt can get in the valve and make it stay open and the water wont stop coming in and flood everything. This was common 30 years ago when I did it for a living, but man, things have changed a lot since then. Our washer just died after over 20 years and it got used every day. It was a great machine that was easy to fix, but the transmission finally gave up and blew oil all over. The new one has all sorts of electronics so when this brakes I'll be calling someone to work on it. Good luck!

I acquired my grandmother’s washing machine when we moved in our house in ‘98. Had it for 15 plus years (my grandmother had it for at least 20 since she bought it new). They don’t make them like they used to anymore. We now own a Speed Queen washing machine since they say they’re the best out there. I still love Whirlpool appliances though. My stove, microwave, & refrigerator are Maytag since we remodeled our kitchen a year ago. Maytag are BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH IMO. They don’t measure up to Whirlpool.
peteski Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 LOL Thomas, The Maytag Corporation is an American home and commercial appliance brand owned by Whirlpool Corporation. Just like with everything else (cars food, etc), appliance companies acquire other appliance companies or merge. Hard to be loyal to certain brand when it is no longer a standalone product.
espo Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 WE moved about 6 months ago and had to buy new appliances including a washer and dryer. My wife wanted a top load washer for some reason, we had never had one before. At the time appliances were in very short supply since the shut down and such. We got a set from LG from the local furniture store. We can't get a single load in the washer that doesn't sound like the thing is going to take out the wall in the laundry room. My wife has to stop the machine and redistribute the load several times before the thing will work and it doesn't seem to matter what size of a load she is washing. We're done with front load machines.
peteski Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 David, are you saying that even though you never had a top-loader, your wife wanted one (but couldn't get it)? So you got that LG front-loader and it stinks. That means that your previous (front-loader) washers worked well?

Zippi Posted December 3, 2021 Author Posted December 3, 2021 The wife and I have had about every flavor of washer and dryer out there over the past 40+ years. Seems like our washer and dryer runs almost every day. I still don't get why the wife has to wash all whites together then all colors, jeans, etc. I throw it all in one load when she's not here and its fine. Washers and dryers last us on average about 4-6 years. they are all junk in my book but we have to have them. This buzzing noise I'm hearing means something is about to fail and the replacement parts are normally so high dollar that's its just not worth it since something else is probably going to fail shortly acter so, it forces us to buy a new one.
