Snake45 Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 I'm hoping to see Scrooged and Bad Santa this year. Haven't seen either one of them in years, I seem to remember both were pretty good. Might watch Nat Lamp Christmas Vacation, too. I love the Christmas scene in Full Metal Jacket, brief as it is.
Matt Bacon Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Die Hard ? Muppet Christmas Carol Gremlins The Hogfather (not a movie, but...) Leverage: the Ho Ho Ho Job The Canadian Broadcasting Company's Fireside Al Maitland's Christmas Eve reading of The Shepherd, by Frederic Forsyth best, M.
Rob Hall Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) I watched 'Fatman' the other evening, very unusual Christmas tale w/ Mel Gibson. I liked both 'Bad Santa' movies, watched them last year. I may watch 'Die Hard' again, one of my all time favorite Christmas season films. I've seen 'National Lampoons Christmas Vacation' probably 20 times, may rewatch... I need to watch 'A Christmas Story' again, been about a decade. I did visit the house used in it a couple years ago, it's about 6 miles north of me. Edited December 8, 2021 by Rob Hall
TonyK Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Huge fan of Jim Carrey and the Grinch movie. Of course Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, and a couple other favorites are Fred Claus and Four Christmases. My wife likes the old classics like Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life and those Bing Crosby ones but they don't do much for me.
Dave Van Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 A few........not any order....... Christmas vacation Christmas Story Scrooged It's a Wonderful Life Holiday Affair (sounds sappy but it's Robert Mitchum and Lionel Trains!!)
Classicgas Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Charlie Brown Christmas It's a wonderful life Christmas vacation Christmas story Grinch both animated and live
stavanzer Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Scrooged Christmas Story. Home Alone. (My Grandson's favorite) The original Grinch movie, w/ Thurl Ravenscroft!
Russell C Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 George C. Scott version of "A Christmas Carol", although the version with Patrick Stewart is also quite good. "The Man Who Saved Christmas" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_Who_Saved_Christmas ) is a seldom-seen TV movie that takes some major liberties with the details of A. C. Gilbert's career, inventor of the Erector Set toys, but if you ignore that, it's a really charming story. 1
PowerPlant Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 They say it ain’t Christmas until Hans Gruber falls off the Nakatomi Plaza ? 2 3
NYLIBUD Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Bad Santa has to be my number one.Absolutely hilarious movie to watch anytime, not just around Xmas. And of course Xmas Vacation, and a Xmas Story too. 1
TonyK Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 I think it's funny when Bad Santa is on one of the regular channels and they have to cut so much out of the movie. No point in showing it. btw, not a movie but I have to watch my Red Green Christmas show every year.
webestang Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 (edited) Other than "It's a Wonderful Life". I like....... 2 Barbara Stanwyck X-Mas movies. "Remember the Night" 1940 and "Christmas in Connecticut" 1945. "Miracle on 34th Street" 1947 "The Nightmare Before Christmas" 1993 "Trapped in Paradise" 1994 "Trading Places" 1983 "Deck the Halls" 2006 "3 Godfathers" 1948 Edited December 9, 2021 by webestang

Ace-Garageguy Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 (edited) Interesting thread. They're running It's a Wonderful Life here at a restored 1935 theater all day December 21. I went a few years back, will probably go this year. 'Bout as close to time travel as you can get at the moment... Edited December 10, 2021 by Ace-Garageguy
Bugatti Fan Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 There is a very old black and white film about Scrooge based on Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Carol that has to be the oldest and best for capturing the mood of this period story. It was made back in the 1950's in the UK by Tower Productions and starred Alastair Sim, Michael Hordern and George Cole, all very distinguished English actors in their day. 1

The Alastair Sims version is my favorite as well.

We try to catch it every year.
Hotrod 97 Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 For us it's: The Muppet Christmas Carol The Santa Clause movies Rise of the Guardians (if you consider that a Christmas movie) And the good ol' classic, The Polar Express ?
