Zippi Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Stopped by the hobby shop yesterday and was talking to my friend (the owner) and he said he had a shippment coming in later that day and he had a couple of the new Revell Hot Wheels Monster trucks in the shipment. He ask if I wanted one. I said, what the heck, hold one for me. Monster trucks are not really my thing but it's a change from the normal. Anybody else picked one of these kits up? Po's & Con's please.

HPi Guy has a build up on his youtube channel. Looks decent to me. Edited December 22, 2021 by stinkybritches added video
Painted Black Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Same as the Bigfoot, just different decals. Built tons of monster trucks in the 80's. Lotsa fun.
iamsuperdan Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 I've bene thinking about grabbing one of these monster truck kits too. Not really my thing, but I like pickups, and it's something different. Built a bunch back of these kits back in the 80s when monster trucks were all the rage. I was even in the Bigfoot Fan Club.
Joe Handley Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 I've never bought that one, to be honest, it's been out for some time now, think it dates back to before the RC2 days, IIRC.

deuces wild Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 A Bigfoot was used the "Double Deuce" movie with Patrick Swazi in it... I forgot the name of that flick...?
Painted Black Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 My bad, looked the same, just didn't connect the two names.

Smoke Wagon Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 I thought about getting one, but I’m betting that Round2 is gonna do a Bigfoot reissue soon and that’s when I’ll get mine. Sort of like when they reissued the GMC General as a Coke release and then a while after they released it with retro box art and factory stripe decals.

If they do a real Bigfoot reissue I hope it's the 87-91 kit and not this one. The middle Bigfoot kit hasn't been out in almost 30 years.

I don't think it's been seen since the Destroyer II, it makes me wonder if when they altered the grille they don't have the stock part anymore. It also seems like a lot of tooling last run in that era is ruined now, that was the last time the original Transtar II was usable and it seems like they can't find the stock chassis for the 88-98 Chevy pickups.

Back in August, Round2 was asked about a 454SS reissue on their youtube channel. I did some digging and found that old comment and Round2’s response: I’m not sure if Round2 was talking about the GMT400 tooling in general or the specific 454SS (short bed so different chassis plate) tooling.

Yeah, it seems like they let a lot of tooling get damaged in that era.

Did they update the body of the kit and just never release the street version from that era?

I guess they didn't do a street version because the body isn't stock, it has a tilt hood and expanded wheel arches, and they didn't make any chassis or suspension parts for it. When they did do the 92-96 Ford trucks it doesn't share any parts with this body.
magicmustang Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 (edited) As seen in "RoadHouse" movie. Decals added. Edited December 23, 2021 by magicmustang 1

Daddyfink Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 (edited) I wish they could bring back this version not my pic Edited December 24, 2021 by Daddyfink
Zippi Posted December 24, 2021 Author Posted December 24, 2021 I kinda like the Hot Wheels version I picked up as it looks to have a tubular frame instead of a stock frame. Correct me if I'm wrong as this is the first Monster truck for me.
Smoke Wagon Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 (edited) You’re correct Bob. The new Hot Wheels kit was first issued as Bigfoot 10. Edited December 24, 2021 by Smoke Wagon

Not really accurate, but fun nonetheless. Probably end up as a $40+ retail price. This is a heavy kit! 1
