LT3 Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 The photos are from previous prototype works...the model will be a work in progress no build ahead. Please note: to build this car design with angled/lift top as I call it required two model car bodies and I will show details of how it is cut to achieve the angled top design. This car will be a theme build of Meso American (Aztec and Maya warrior character). The warrior held the absolute belief in possession of the image reflected the possessed powers...So this car will reflect (power with a look of speed and forward motion). My prototype photos reflects this is a kit bash of (Revell 41 Willys street rod and Revell 32 Ford 3 window coupe) the final build will include open doors, and hinge building of the type found on the real car (hinge on body look not pivot and rod). I choose a theme to help me with painting...I love art, but must reflect from inspiration or it just don't happen. See my website that shows works from my college studies (www.flickr.com/photos/l3arts/) The colors are going to be mostly Candy Apple Green, some Candy apple Red along with gold base for trim and details, Hinge works will be partially hidden under relief images of the chosen theme culture. Body will be channeled by 2mm, and this car is intended to be a full show car no strip use Much art is going into this build...much of this art work has been prototyped in many past works of mine...I'm 81 years old, have cancer, Lung disease of emphysema, COPD complications and survived 3 heart attacks with a stint placed in my heart artery. What is not shown is the paint theme application and that is created as we go but promise you will see what is not common in paint designs as I must use abstract paintings to avoid violation of copyright laws. I must find images to build the theme and that involves threading the law to capture the look and feel but not duplicate someone else works. 1
DPNM Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Welcome to the forum Larry! This looks like a cool project. I'm looking forward to hopefully learn some new paint techniques. You have my curiosity and attention. And I'm 66 so you have me by a couple years. Sorry to hear of your ill health.
LT3 Posted December 24, 2021 Author Posted December 24, 2021 My reason to mention my physical issues is not for concern...instead for what this hobby offers even for the very ill among us. I owe much of my hand eye coordination to my hobby craft as my hands shake at times in near uncontrolled manor, but not when cutting out doors or other plastic shapes. Most important I build like so many of you of the old school because we have found our method of expression in this craft. I can never call my self a professional or master as I have follow some builds on this forum and feel honored just to build on this platform. I wanted to teach my Grandsons how to model, but they have never been allowed to handle sharp objects (knives etc.) as taught by my Daughters? So should they look at this site and see this build I hope they will take it upon themselves to learn how to use an Exacto knife...that is required not an option. On this build I hope to not only express to build with time in mind (models degrade over time and gravity)...so build with reinforcement where possible...keep it hidden and please feel free to offer me your methods to preserver our works from the harsh environment we take for granted. I'm in the process of preparing the sacrificial kit for parts that will be used in the final car. Incase I didn't make it clear to lift the top (two bodies are required)...the car that is used to build the angle comes from the sacrificial body and the lift comes from the finished body (confusing to describe but simply put the (A) body top is used on the (B) body... and the B body is the finished body.) I tried many methods prior and to keep the body lines in tact and clean...but it takes placing cuts at exact points and at proper angle to both lift and tilt the top. The title will be Jaguar Warrior and no it's not a Jaguar car. It's 1932 Ford 3 Window Coupe with a stuffed 394 cid (think that was the size of the big early model hemi) A class due to 671 GMC blower and the injector hat is home made with throttle plates shown at an angle...(I'll show how that is done). Bills72sj Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 We gladly accept your offer to immortalize your teachings here on the forum. I personally have learned a lot from being a member.
LT3 Posted December 25, 2021 Author Posted December 25, 2021 I do believe firmly in the bible and don't stress over my illness as others do. It is my belief that this illness is a gift to help me deepen the depth of my convictions in the lord my god and in the salvation of my soul through Jesus Christ who died for all our sins. I appreciate your message for me god bless and keep you. Most sincerely Larry Truex
LT3 Posted December 26, 2021 Author Posted December 26, 2021 We are not a dying world...we are being tested to bring forth our true depth of belief and commitment of being saved. I do recall the forum has restrictions and don't want to violate those rules...I do have the faith, but all things I believe would be opinions to many others. I do expect to bring a model to this forum that will be unique if my art can be expressed as I see it in my minds eye. The initial design is already prototyped by me in the past so the build is an exercise. It is the artistic expression and interpretation that I must create, and that is my challenge. Larry
