Got an email from them alerting me to a future pre-order.

Anybody have an inkling as to which two engines are included?

Nabbed this pic from James Duff's coverage of the IPMS Nationals last year where these kits were announced. Not saying for sure this is one of the engines included in the upcoming kit, but it looks like a HEMI poking out from under that hood.

Ford Engine is nice, but very rare in real competition cars, Hemi's and Big Block Chevy Rats appear to be the dominant engine in old photos, although it might be different on the East Coast and Midwest. Hopefully the other engine will be a Hemi.

Those tires in front are just awful!  Way too wide, and the sidewall is way too short.

And, the Blower Hat is too wide for the hole in the hood. Going to need some minor re-engineering on this kit when you build it.

Sure hope those aren't the front tires they'll be including in the kits...?

Can't tell until we compare the actual pieces, but it looks pretty close to the Revell original tire. Not saying the Revell was any better, but Atlantis probably copied it.

Already got a couple of these, and a couple of the dragsters on "pre-order", will look GOOD sitting beside some of the AMT Double Dragster builds!!!

Their box art gets better and better with every issue!

Still hate their logo, though.

But their nailing their subject matter!

That's funny, I think the box art is getting worse and worse! And yes, the logo could be improved.

And yup, that is the FORD FE Engine! I doubt the HEMI is in the box.

Looks like this kit will include the round tube chassis, as opposed to the one included in the Mooneyes dragster kit.  I wouldn't bet on seeing the Chrysler engine as an option, seeing as how it was pieced into the Miss Deal Studebaker.  Maybe, just maybe, we'll get the Buick?

Yes, a little rework and maybe a dive into the spare parts box will be in order.  But, we're getting some parts packs that haven't been widely available in over 50 years.  Atlantis deserves an "atta boy" for getting these items out there when previous owners just let them sit in the tool crib.

Agree on the front tires. Look like something that should be on a '50s sports car.

I could have sworn that the original Revell body didn't have the hole already cut in the hood--you had to cut it out yourself. Or was that just on the Parts Pack body?

Cut on the double kit body parts, not on parts pack parts.

Thanks! I think I still have a PP body somewhere. I'll pull a mold off the hood so I can do fill-ins on the new kit. B)

So Atlantis makes the effort to refurbish tooling so they can release these kits after having not been seen in almost 60 years, kits that Revell NEVER would have brought back leaving the only previous option to step up at HUNDREDS of dollars a piece and some of you are gonna complain about the company’s logo?

Unfreaking believable…

I’m so glad Atlantis is bringing these old kits back - and I hope they keep doing it!  I’ll be grabbing a few of these

I wonder what those front tires represent in 1:1?  I like the look of them - I can see those getting used on some of my hot rod builds

I agree with you.

I'm really glad that progress is being made on this kit and I'm certainly hoping the retail is going to come in around the same as the Mooneyes dragsters because that's been a HUGE help on my shelves. I know folks weren't thrilled with the Mooneyes box art either but I am here to tell you it didn't make anyone hesitate at my register.

No matter how great something may be for some folks, there will always be people who don’t like it, aren’t interested, and think the logo sucks. That’s just human nature, we all think differently, we all have our own mindsets, and we put different weights to the pros and cons of things.

Although, I will say…

…they spelled ‘Competition’ wrong on the box ?

I don't care if it says " '69 429 Corvette" on the box as long as that cool old Fiat is inside!
