Chuck Most Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 This started out as the AMT 1950 3100. Conversion to a '52 consists of replacing the molded door handles with push button handles (taken from a Revell '50 Oldsmobile in this case), filling in the driver's side cowl vent, modifying the hood side badges (cutting away the 3100 basically), and adding wing vents to the windows. I also used the valve cover and air cleaner from the custom version of the kit just because I could. The topper was constructed from various bits of Evergreen plastic and Chesapeake aluminum mesh, and the trailer came from the '63 Nova Wagon 3 in 1. The trailer was given a set of '50 Chevrolet truck taillights. I also filled in the quarter windows to give the truck a low-line, base model feel. I don't believe that "base model" 1952s had white grilles (bumpers yes but the grilles seemed to have been body color) but I liked the look so I went with it. 4 1
James2 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Absolutely perfect, I like it all. Fit and finish right down to the window stickers!
slusher Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 fantastic build! I like the camper and trailer…
Tom Geiger Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 (edited) Very cool Chuck! My kind of truck! I used the engine chrome on mine too! Edited January 24, 2022 by Tom Geiger
Watertown Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 As always, another great build, Chuck! Great detailing, and I agree with your choice of white for the bumpers/grille. Thanks for continuing to inspire the rest of us. Happy New Year!
happy grumpy Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 My favorite pick up. I have a soft spot for these old chevy trucks. Great build.
espo Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Great looking finishes. Your last picture reminds me of so many of these from the past. Guys had to build their own camper shell in the old days, and this gives it that look.
bisc63 Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Very nice, realistic model cleanly built and beautifully presented. Well done.
Smoke Wagon Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Alright, I can get past those bumper stickers and appreciate a nice build. I really dig the scratch built canopy and that you made it into a 3 window truck. (AMT always should’ve included flush opaque plastic inserts for that). Nice job on the trailer too, those matching fenders set it apart.
Painted Black Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Very nice.. What paint did you use for the red? Thanks

Chuck Most Posted January 28, 2022 Author Posted January 28, 2022 Thanks for your thoughts, guys. I'm actually pretty happy with the way this one came out. Think I started the old '22 hobby season rather strongly... let's see how far I can fall. ?
