Looks like this one is being reissued in 2022: https://tamiyablog.com/2022/02/full-details-of-tamiya-featured-releases-early-2022/

Tamiya 12051 1/12 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG Street-Custom RE-ISSUE
Tamiya welcomes back a large-scale favorite with the re-issue release of the Fairlady 240Z. Released in October 1969, the Nissan Fairlady Z went on to become a world-renowned high-performance sports car. A stylish long nose, short deck body was married with a 2-liter inline-6 engine and cushioned by 4-wheel independent strut suspension. The 240Z was an export version with 2.4-liter engine that was also released for the Japanese market in November 1971 on the back of excellent race performance. The top-grade variant of the car was the 240ZG, whose form was accented with the long “G nose” and FRP over fenders, and a plethora of tune-up parts was available to those faithful owners who wanted to tweak its performance and stamp their individuality on this legendary car.

This large scale 1/12 model recreates the Fairlady 240ZG, released in Japan in 1971, fitted with a host of tune-up parts typical of the era.

I have the non Street-custom version what are the differences apart from the wheels? Wish they would release a Z version in 1:12.

These 1/12 kits always look so enticing. I’ve got Tamiya’s 1/12 935. Just waiting to build it when my skills improve so I can do it justice. Perhaps the Datsun would be a good candidate to work on a large scale kit first.

The Street custom has Watanabes with spacers, triple carbs, period bucket seats and some PE bits. When I built my early-issue ZG several years ago I ordered the parts trees with the wheels and spacers from Tamiya USA. Cost $20 or so and got me the parts I really wanted. The Watanabes use the same tires as the stock steelies.

A fantastic build, certainly shows that this kit stands the test of time very well.

I've never built anything this scale before, but with my interest in 1:1 Datsun it feels like this kit is something I should do someday.

Thanks guys, this kit is all about the prep. I narrowed panel gaps with styrene stock, block sanded everything with the panels in place, and mounted the flares before painting to make sure the fitment was perfect. The doors close with neodymium magnets so there isn't any sag or weird gap. It's a fantastic kit, but there's a fair amount of work that goes into making it look really good!

It paid off. Your leading edge of the hood is rather better than on the maroon car, for example.
