afx Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) Bought some BSI Super Thin CA and when they super thin they mean it - its like water! Haven't yet figured out how to apply it without pouring it all over the parts - anyone have any suggestions/recommendations as to how to neatly apply it? Edited February 14, 2022 by afx
MrObsessive Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) Somewhere in my tool stash, I have an item that has a very tiny fork shape at the end of it just this purpose. It picks up a small drop of glue like that and you can put it where you'd like without the mess. Darn if I can find it right now............I'd take a pic of it. You can put a drop in one of those cheap plastic condiment cups (a pack at the store is very cheap), use the tool to pick up a tiny amount. Edited February 14, 2022 by MrObsessive
SfanGoch Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 You can trim the top of a large sewing needle, leaving a prong, to make a CA glue applicator. Use a lighter to burn off and clean any accumulated CA. 5
afx Posted February 14, 2022 Author Posted February 14, 2022 Tried a toothpick - doesn't work. Sounds like you guys are describing something like this. https://www.micromark.com/Micro-Glue-Applicator_2 1
afx Posted February 14, 2022 Author Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) Anyone tried these? Edited February 14, 2022 by afx

They do have three versions depending on how thick your glue is, but I only use the ones for thin glue. I also made some glue wells from some thick plastic that will hold a few drops of glue that I can dip into. Edit: I actually never read these instructions until just now when I took the photo. I’ve been dipping it deeper than the instructions say and it works for me.?♂️ Edited February 14, 2022 by NOBLNG

OldNYJim Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 I like these - they're pretty much single-use because the glue ruins the tip soon as it dries, but I like how neatly and cleanly you can apply glue with them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074KVWRVL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 And, because I can't bring myself to throw anything useful away, I've been snipping the tip off and saving that useful-looking plastic for future scratchbuilding projects!

Rick L Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 I’ve never tried it, but would an old fountain pen work?

Indeed! We have plenty of other things to spend our money on!? I mean, if I can make it...I'm cheap, that way!
Shark Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 I use a paper clip, bend the end out and the rest is like a grip.
peteski Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Like others have mentioned, I made my own from needles and some 1/8" acrylic rod. They work great, and I have wide range of sizes (not all of the sizes were successful, but I kept them anyways). Also different sizes work for different viscosity glues. The Micorbrushes are for applying the accelerator.
yh70 Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 (edited) get u some of these..its what i use..problem solved...if u do get u some they do fit tight but i always take a small piece of masking tape and tape it to the bottle https://www.ebay.com/itm/164446133718?hash=item2649c0ddd6:g:ss8AAOSwlfFditZw Edited February 15, 2022 by yh70
Chariots of Fire Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 I have a couple of old dissecting needles on long wood handles. A drop of glue is all you get. When it begins to build up I just scrape the excess away.
