landman Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 (edited) Revell '41 Chevy + Mr.Flintstone tanker + assortment of resin wheels. Is this big enough to be here or should it be in light commercials? Edited March 10, 2022 by landman
Chariots of Fire Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Keep it here. Bigger than pickup size. The cabs were the same for both p/u and larger vehicles. Only thing that changed really were the fenders. Will be checking in to see how you make progress! 1
misterNNL Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 This will indeed make an interesting build. There are a lot of a ways this could be finished. I'm tuned in for sure. 1
Warren D Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Good idea, I have the same tank body, plan on putting mine on a Chevy COE (I think it's a 50 or 51) also Jimmy Flintstone. Interested in seeing what you do for a frame. 1

Ace-Garageguy Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Nice project. I always enjoy seeing working truck builds. 1
Mopar - D Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Very interesting build Pat. I will be following your progress. 1
misterNNL Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 I have a tanker idea cooking in the back of my mind ax well. I bought a bag of resin cast stuff a few years ago at a toy show that includes a '30's tank with a separate rear hose compartment, pumps, air pumps, etc so I might have to use all that as the start of a period diorama. Also have resin model A cab and fenders available so all I'm lacking is commitment.
landman Posted March 14, 2022 Author Posted March 14, 2022 Did a bit of eyeball engineering and the frame needs to get a 10mm extension.

landman Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 It looks like I got the wheelbase right. 1
landman Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 (edited) Working on the engine brought back a lot of memories of the one I had rebuilt for my '34. Edited March 16, 2022 by landman 1
landman Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 And I found a typically Canadian paint scheme. 1
Chariots of Fire Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Nice job on the engine! You might want to consider a heavier frame under the Chevy given the load it will be required to carry. Perhaps make it straight toward the back since you have to extend it anyway. Just a thought.?

Thanks Charles. I'll look into that. Likely a channel on each side.
landman Posted March 17, 2022 Author Posted March 17, 2022 (edited) Added some channels to reinforce the frame under the tank body. Edited March 17, 2022 by landman
landman Posted March 18, 2022 Author Posted March 18, 2022 The tank body sits too high, had to channel the front lower panel and add a brace against the back panel.
landman Posted March 19, 2022 Author Posted March 19, 2022 I think we are approaching a level stance, however, The real answer won't come until the wheels are on. I can make a set with an assortment of resin wheels and some tires from a monogram classic which are the right size.
landman Posted March 20, 2022 Author Posted March 20, 2022 (edited) Added fuel and vacuum lines. My really thin copper tubing (transformer wire) seems to have disapeared so the vacuum line is out of scale. Edited March 20, 2022 by landman
landman Posted March 20, 2022 Author Posted March 20, 2022 (edited) A pefect example of the vagaries of old age. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why the exhaust overbend didn't line up with the rear axle and that the driveshaft was too short. Then I clued in.... I had lenghtened the frame. Sheesh.
