Chuck Most Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 This started out as a red MPC '79 El Camino promo, which had, for whatever reason, been treated to some 4-lug turbine wheel covers from an MPC Monza promo. I took it apart, cleaned off the decades of dust, dirt, nicotine and cobwebs, repainted it in black to use the Ray's Kits decals, added some parts box mirrors and decals, and lowered it a bit with some Pegasus 19" IROC styled wheels thrown in for good measure. From what I can tell the Diablo was equivalent to the Royal Knight package on the El Camino- basically and already decently-loaded example sexied up with some vinyl graphics. I do tend to dunk on GM quite a bit, but getting appearance packages right was one thing they used to be pretty good at. (Grand National being an excellent example. It's just a blacked-out Regal T-Type, but look at how much more those sell for compared to a "regular" Regal T-Type) 3
thatz4u Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 nicely done, I always liked Jimmys more that Bowties....
espo Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 Great looking paint and I like the stance. Good wheels and they would have been a direct bolt on if you used the fronts from an IROC as the rears had a different off set. Your right about the trim package on the GMC. Always wondered why GMC dealers didn't sell more of these.
happy grumpy Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 Your work sure paid off, I like the black on black tone with the red livery. Great model and build.
Koellefornia Kid Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 Very nice build, Chuck! It has the right colour, the right stance and the right wheels! Nice pics, too, it almost looks like a real one!
