bogger44 Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 My second completion of the year. I've wanted to build this car for a long time as I always rooted for Rusty back then, and this was my favorite livery as well. It just made for a slick & tough looking racecar. Kit is a Monogram Ricky Rudd issue, built strictly box stock with Powerslide decals. Tamiya TS-14 Black and TS-34 Camel Yellow. The build went fairly smooth with a few relatively minor fit issues, and the front wheels ended up with a little toe-in but I'll live with it. That's really about it on this one. Thanks for looking and any questions/comments. 6
Nacho Z Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 I absolutely love this!! What a great looking model. This is one of the NASCAR models that I want to do some day. Just fantastic!
bbowser Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 Really nice, great paint and decal work! My favorite Rusty livery as well.
TransAmMike Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Other than the Davey Allison black Havoline T-bird the black Rusty Bird is my favorite. Great job Tony!!
slusher Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Beautifully done , Tony! Roast had one of the best looking cars back then! 1
4mula1fan Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Beautiful job! Rusty was my driver because it ticked off all the Earnhardt fans around here. Lol
sflam123 Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Beautifully done!! I followed Rusty from his ASA days and this is still one of my favorite race cars. Great job!!
Pierre Rivard Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Wow! Mastering black like you do is something we rarely see. Perfect!
bogger44 Posted March 26, 2022 Author Posted March 26, 2022 Thanks so much guys! I loved this era of NASCAR too, can't really get into the current racing. 12 hours ago, Pierre Rivard said: Wow! Thankfully Tamiya paint always polishes out so nice, one of their great qualities. Trust me though, it's not perfect and has a few blemishes here and there LOL. I am really happy with it though.
Toast Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 Rusty's MGD cars were one of the best looking on the track back in those days. Your build really does it justice. That black finish is flawless!

bogger44 Posted March 29, 2022 Author Posted March 29, 2022 Sweet! I did a ride along in Vegas way back in '98. Those are a lot of fun, even more so driving one I'm sure.
steveracer Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 Tony, your model looks great, and the photography outside works great to your advantage. Plus you tracked the highlights perfectly with the lower eye level photos. Thanks for sharing.
iBorg Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 That is such a smooth looking build. The paint looks amazing.
