Kenmojr Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 This is a scifi illustration I created a few years ago, all digitally... "Evening Flight Over the City" It was influenced by my youthful fascination with Marvel Comics artist Jack "the King" Kirby and Heavy Metal artist Moebius...

Big John Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 (edited) Thanks Ken, it started life as a wooden banister finial ball, some scrap blocks of wood and cardboard... and a dream. Edited September 23, 2022 by Big John second thought 1
Big John Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Every medium has its plus and minus. First you have to visualize the hoard of zombies attacking the airport. Take the difference between pencil and pen & ink.. 1

You might try "Blender". also free, and maybe overkill as it can do 3D, 3D printing models, movies (cartoons or lifelike) as well as free hand drawing. I am trying to learn it myself but like all tools, you need to learn how to use it. An expensive tablet would probably be needed as "penciling" with a mouse disappoints. 1
JollySipper Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Working on another MSPaint drawing........ This computer has Paint3D, but I haven't tried anything with it, yet. Have any of you guys done anything on Paint3D, or know anything about it?
JollySipper Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Just wanted to show you guys the finished picture............

I tried drawing on my computer using a mouse and found it too awkward. I later purchased a Wacom pen and tablet which is attached via USB to my WIndows computer. Now drawing or sketching in Photoshop is like using pencil and paper. Took a few weeks to adapt to the Wacom pen and tablet, but well worth the efforts. Also a true sketching app like Art Rage or Rebelle makes a world of difference and both emulate natural medias like pen, pencil, oil, chalk, markers incredibly and IMHO much better than Corel Painter. I have all four apps Photoshop CS 2023, Corel Painter 2022, ArtRage 6 and Rebelle 5. I use Photoshop for photo editing and sketching and Rebelle and Artrage for adding details and colors to the basic sketch. Seldom use Painter.

Blender 3.x is well worth the effort and time. It is now my primary tool for 3D polygonal modeling and a huge improvement on Blender 2.x with a more user friendly interface. In the past I used Wings3D, Hexagon 3d and Silo 3D. Silo3D comes close to Blender, but Silo is only a modeling app, costs $100 USA and does not have the extra features (rendering, sculpting, grease pencil, animation, etc) of Blender. Attached are a hot rod for Santa I was working on during Christmas but I got side tracked with family issues and did not finish yet. I modeled everything in Blender except for the snow track and engine pulley & belt, which I did using MOI3D ( a Rhino 3D like app only much cheaper).
