Beautiful model and color. I am a little jealous , you have many kits that I would love to have, mainly all those four door from the sixties and seventies. Nice of you to share with the rest of us. At least I can look at them and wish. The holy grail for me would be to find a 61 plymouth. My father had one and it's the main missing piece in my collection.

Thanks Mario,

61 Plymouths come up for sale occasionally but are usually not cheap. There are still bargains if you keep watching and are patient. I recently got another 62 Ford Fairlane hardtop new in the box for $35. But many of my NOS kits I've had for years.

I'll be posting my 59 Plymouth and 60 Plymouth wagon at some point. I haven't started my 60 hardtop yet so it will be a while for it.  -Rich

Great looking model! There was a strip of chrome on top of the doors and front fenders that AMT didn't see fit to add to the kit.

Tom, thanks for mentioning that chrome strip. I knew about it and it would have been easy to add it but I like the plain look better so left it alone. That's one of the good things about being retired. When I was making models for a living, I had to do what the customer wanted. Now I can build the way I want because I'm the only one I have to please. I could easily add more detailing and mirrors, antennas, etc. (not that I never do), but I do it the way I want.   -Rich

I hope there are many good things about being retired...if I can ever make the numbers work. Maybe someday. I am glad you are enjoying it!

Ha, ha, It's not mirrors, I have parts for between 1 and 200 of the Avantis. They are from a project I was involved in back when I worked making white metal handbuilt models in the 80's. The ones you see are some of the unfinished samples I painted back then. I plan to build them up at some point.

Years ago, when the Avanti II's were being produced in Youngstown Ohio, a friend had the (dis)pleasure of building many and many of the AMT models for the company owner. He had a deadline as they were being used as center pieces for a banquet. Fortunately he didn't have to paint them.  He never wants to see another Avanti kit in his life.

Nice work and lovely colour. I much prefer this front clip version to the current AMT one.

Thanks, I have both versions.
