Well folks it looks like it’s shaping up to be the year of 1965 A/FX mustangs and dodges. Thanks to the good people at amt and moebius  we’re going to have kits I’ve been waiting 40 years for. I built this cool little A/FX mustang coupe a couple years ago.here’s the parts list

Amt 1966 mustang coupe kit

resin cast teardrop hood

Amt 1966 galaxie sohc engine

Amt 1962 Belair wheels

Amt slicks & front Firestone supremes

decals by Fred Caddy

paint by testors champagne gold enamel (unfortunately another discontinued color) interior was painted with krylon red

As always thanks for checking it out,  mike B90D5A34-027D-4671-9B4B-28BC67B61AE1.thumb.jpeg.b1b97d0b0996f481f505083360a1a6b3.jpegAB5D9368-465E-4BE0-A308-7C004BFE8A95.thumb.jpeg.96ec6398585d95c40a4a07d4e93aaff1.jpegB90D5A34-027D-4671-9B4B-28BC67B61AE1.thumb.jpeg.b1b97d0b0996f481f505083360a1a6b3.jpeg883834CB-4AE5-4BCD-9083-11ADBB142DFF.thumb.jpeg.0c7c68b88c3d9dbde9ffc4937560d901.jpeg526AFFCD-5462-4FDF-B754-6A9A87BADE3C.thumb.jpeg.f49aad7c7c99fb6091d7497b9109b54a.jpegA6FCE8A8-EF1A-47BD-B859-1CA6F1DDDB08.thumb.jpeg.db645193071f62f62f8702e3cd99226c.jpegB94215B7-0B63-4E10-8C0F-3B032608B1E8.thumb.jpeg.ff295be0ce9c8431abb06448a4875d4b.jpeg

Nice work.  I've been collecting research on the A/FX Mustangs - hope to build one sometime in the future.

Yea me too I’ve collected decals for about 6 versions so far. Unfortunately we’re probably going to be stuck with the old school chassis plate, and it gets expensive for another donor kit.when I build the fastbacks I’m going to make the headers, and traction bars patterned from revell’s thunder bolt. The 66 galaxie cammer fit the chassis real nice, but I would consider using one from the moebius comet.

The AMT '67 Mustang makes a nice chassis/engine bay/interior donor.

Love these  “cover car” builds that you’re posting Mike. Did the ‘66 Galaxie kit that you got the cammer out of to build this Mustang also include the two air inlet conduits? I tried building those from scratch for a Mustang A/FX I posted last year (and gave up!).

In my perfect scale modeling fantasy world, Moebius would release an accurate 1/25 kit of the H-M ‘65 Mustang 2+2 A/FX with their 427 SOHC (from their Comet kit), accurate front and rear AWB adjustments, period correct wheels and tires with proper “stance”and the weird front torsion beam suspension and then Slixx or Fremont Racing Specialties would issue sets of decals to build all 10 (11?) of the resulting drag cars….a boy can dream…

All the cammer parts came from the galaxie kit including the air ducts. I agree l’d love to have a kit with all the a/fx parts in one box. Round 2 has most of the parts in about 4 different kits. Drag racing kits sell well at least in my neck of the woods. I would be happy if they would just come close with a teardrop hood, American wheels, slicks, and cammer parts. I dream of moebius making a stretched nose 1966 mustang.
