Plowboy Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Today, I pulled this one off the shelf, removed the Pegasus TT2'S and stuck the stock wheels and tires on it to take a photo for a different thread. While I had it out, I took a few others and thought I would post them. Some of you may remember when I posted it originally with the custom wheels. For those that don't remember it or haven't seen it before, it's an original MPC promo that I restored a few years ago. The interior got the bucket seats cut loose, holes in the floor patched, floorpan was then flocked with baking soda, painted to match and the bucket seats got brackets to get them up off of the floor. It was painted with Model Masters Artesian Turquoise with Bright Aqua accents. On the body, I repaired a hole in the right front wheel opening along with what seemed like hundreds of nicks and scratches. Once it was ready for paint, I covered it with the same Model Masters Artesian Turquoise and covered that with Testors Clear. The grille was opened and it along with the rear bumper and wheel covers were sent to LittleMotorKarCo for new chrome. The tires are original and just got the tread sanded. Something I really like about these old promos is that you can do a simple wheel swap in a matter of minutes and totally change the look of it. Thanx for checking it out! 4
NOBLNG Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Sweet looking Impala!? I like the stock wheels and tires better than the mags…but that’s just me.? Do you have any good photos of that baking soda flocking job? Thx. 1
TooOld Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Love the look of the '68 Impala and yours looks gorgeous in that Turquoise paint ! I remember your original post with the custom wheels , I like the stock look much better . 1
ea0863 Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 What a stunner! But now I have to find the pics of it with the custom rims just out of curiosity 1
bisc63 Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Gotta agree with NOBLNG and TooOld, the stock wheels/hubcaps look better, just something right about them! 1
TransAmMike Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 I commented on your other thread that the wheels really compliment it. Still like the 5-spokes but either way, it looks great!! 1
mustang1989 Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 A beautiful job!! You really put alot of time into both of your Impalas. 1

David G. Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 Everything looks prefect, in the right setting, it could easily pass for 1:1. David G. 1
drodg Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 Beautiful job. I love the 68 and love your deluxe wheel covers on it. 1
69NovaYenko Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 (edited) That's one sweet looking ride. LOVE the color. What did you use on the chrome trim, around the windshield, rain gutters, rocker panels and body-side moldings. Edited May 24, 2022 by 69NovaYenko 1
