Jason R Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 (edited) So my latest competed work is the old Monogram High Performance series Buick GNX kit. I’ve wanted to build this one for a long time and glad I finally did it. I added some detail to the kit using a Rays decal set for the GNX as well as a Revell decal sheet from their latest Buick Grand National/GNX kit. Also added small details like the keys in the ignition, valve stems, etc. The tires in my kit didn’t fit the GNX wheels at all, so I fortunately found a set of tires that fit perfectly in my spares box. Tamiya spray paints were used top to bottom on this one. It fought me a bit as I originally polished through the paint and had to strip and respray it, then I dropped the body and broke both A pillars and had to repair and paint again. Finally got it together though, and am happy with the result! Edited June 23, 2022 by Jason R Forgot the pics! 10
happy grumpy Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Let me be the first to tell you this is an awesome build. Always loved the GN. You did a superb job on the paint and details. The monte Carlo is just as good. Great job
TransAmMike Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Beeee-utiful GNX Jason and wow thats some shiny paint?
iamsuperdan Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Black is a bugger to do well. And I think you did an awesome job. Interior is especially good.
Koellefornia Kid Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Awesome build! Love the shiny black paint!
David G. Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Nicely Done! Love the fat tires and added details. David G.
Bainford Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Good looking GNX, Jason. Nice paint. You pushed through the 'oops' moments to a great result. Nicely done.
espo Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 I agree with everyone else on the paint job. Despite the issues you mentioned, the paint is really reflective and smooth. The interior looks exactly like the 1:1 and I like your detail touches with the keys. Excellent detailing on the engine and chassis. The Monte Carlo SS in the background looks to be done to the same standard.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Well done and a nice paint job! Black is the hardest to get to look smooth.
