bluestringer Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 My next build.................I will be trying a new primer and paint. The primer went on very smooth. Never tried the Tamiya paints, but I've seen others use it here and have good results. I will be going with the six pack setup on the engine. Back in the day I had a Plymouth Road Runner with the 440 Six Pack. 2
slusher Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Looking forward to your build. Tamiya paint and products are great buddy!

Mike C. Posted July 9, 2022 Posted July 9, 2022 Those wheels and tires are really nice. Are these the ones that come with this kit?

Yes those are the kit wheels and tires. IMO the wheels were too bright, so I coated them with Testors dullcote and added a little black wash. Came out ok. 2
Mike C. Posted July 9, 2022 Posted July 9, 2022 Sweet! I agree you defiantly need to dull the wheels down a bit. From the factory the wheels were painted silver and the trim ring were kind of a brushed finish. I'm thinking of getting one of these kits now just for the wheels and tires as I'm not happy with my '70 Roadrunners rolling stock. These would look perfect on that and I have a few extra Cragars and AMT pad printed tires then I can build the Duster as sort of a day 2 car. now what color? ?

I did them the same way. I went with a lime green on it and this green I'm going to put on the Duster is about the same. I did a tan interior on the Cuda, but I'm going to use this green with some black on the Duster interior.
Mike C. Posted July 9, 2022 Posted July 9, 2022 Nice! Love that color. My Roadrunner is the same color. I found a dealer on ebay and got 2 sets plus some other stuff I need.
deuces wild Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 I wonder what the duster would look like with the 5 spoke magnum 500 wheels...??? 1
slusher Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 Those white lettered tires ? will look nice on your Duster!

bluestringer Posted July 10, 2022 Author Posted July 10, 2022 I think the green on green will look good. There will be some black to offset it a little.
bluestringer Posted July 12, 2022 Author Posted July 12, 2022 I used Tamiya x-15 light green thinned with Mr. Color Leveling Thinner. Came out ok I guess, but I thought it would have more gloss. I'll need to coat it with some Revive It floor polish. I think the interior came out good. 1
bluestringer Posted July 12, 2022 Author Posted July 12, 2022 (edited) Been trying to get the body foiled. I got some new BMF and it seems to be better than the old I had. But I'm not very good putting it on. It's not perfect but I've got the side windows and the back window done. If I can get the front windshield area done it will be my first complete foil job. This body has some nice defined lines around the window areas which has helped a lot. Edited July 12, 2022 by bluestringer
TransAmMike Posted July 12, 2022 Posted July 12, 2022 Don't know how I missed this James. Looking Great to me, and the chrome trim came out very nice.
bisc63 Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Intense color! Love the lines of the Duster; yours is looking good!

During the body prep stage (before paint), it helps if you scribe around the window trims. Gives a clean line to follow with the knife blade during foiling. On some kits it's necessary, when the window trim is poorly (or not at all) defined.
