locoengr Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) We are going down the weekend of Feb 21 for a wild game. Staying somewhere around the M. of A. Does anyone know of any good shops for kits, supplies, paints etc. Does the Mall itself have anything like this? T.I.A. Bruce Edited February 8, 2009 by locoengr
Jordan White Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) Seeing as no one else answered, and since it's not the 21st yet, I'll help ya out. First off, no stores with plastic models in MoA, just a diecast car store. I found a place in Richfield, which is the next town to the NW of the mall. It's called the Hub Hobby Center and I guess it is fairly big. Hope this helps! BTW, who is the Wild playing? I love going to their games, the Xcel Center is an awesome rink! crispy Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Yeah, Hub Hobby is a favorite of mine when I make my way up there. Their info: Hub Hobby 6410 Penn Ave. S. Richfield 612-866-9575 Hours are Mon-Fri 10-9 Sat 9:30-5:30 Sun. 12-5 I like Scale Model Supplies in St. Paul too. 458 N. Lexington Parkway 651-646-7781 Hours are Mon-Fri 10-9 Sat 9:30-9 Sun 12-5 SMS has a lot more oop kits. It's nestled in a basement. Lots of cool things to look at. Probably 10-15 minutes away from Hub. Chris
Modelmartin Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Hub Hobby is good but Scale Model Supplies is a place you can get lost in. Huge, huge selection of kits, diecasts, supplies, tools, magazines. If you like Model RR you need to add an extra hour to look at that! Around here we lovingly call it "The Dungeon" because it is in the basement of a 40s era row of stores. It is easy to get to and is only a few miles from the X where the Wild plays. We always take out of town modelbuilders there for a little "Shock and Awe". I have been going there for 25 years and still like to wander around!
Dave Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I went to Scale Model supply this past August while on a business trip. I wandered in or should I say down, and was blown away by the inventory. Like others have said tons of everything. I took about 4 laps and I am sure I missed a bunch. I almost was gonna need another suitcase to get stuff home in.Just saw a lot of kits I had not seen in years.
locoengr Posted February 8, 2009 Author Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) Chris and R.O. , thank you for the address' and help with the LHS's . It's very much appreciated! The added (thanx to Dave) opinion for SMS makes it a for sure stop for me. "Islander" the Wild are playing the Wings. Still not 100% sure where our seats are. They are season tix of an Ins. Co. and from what I've been told they are good seats. My first ever puck game. So...... Can't wait for 2/21 and 2/22! Thanx again everyone!!! Bruce Edited February 9, 2009 by locoengr

(I'm sure they will ) While you're at the Xcel, may I suggest getting the pizza, it's excellent.
