bsoder Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Just finished this build from an old Revell kit I've had around forever! didn't turn out quite as I envisioned and I kinda hurried it at the end to finish it up
Lyle Willits Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Other than the chick being naked and snorting coke, you captured the "van craze" very well.
randx0 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 nice job .be careful people might think it's a nice kit and pay alot of money for one.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Wow! I love all the details. Wonderful job!
fordh8r Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 WHOA! Total flashback! No, not because I had a conversion van back in the 70's but because I had this exact kit as a kid. I think it was called "California Cruisin" or " .......... Cruiser". with the big wave and surfer decals for the sides. I remember the bubble side windows. LOL It was molded in yellow. Well, I can say it looks so much better then my glue bomb back in the day. Great job with the build! And thanks for the memory. I think I want one again.
MrObsessive Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Nice! That brings back some memories as a teen in the '70's when I saw those alot! I thought that in order to get to the Love Shack, you needed to hop in a Chrysler, That seats about 20?
bsoder Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 Other than the chick being naked and snorting coke, you captured the "van craze" very well. My..My..Lyle, a thought like that never crossed my mind!!..well maybe a little
carrucha Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Cool '70's Van! The only thing missing are the 8-track tapes. carrucha
novadose71 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Very cool. I have this one in my stash, I don't think I have ever seen it built up besides on the box sides. Makes me wanna build it.
evilone Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Well now you have made the 70's come back with this one(i only know about them due to movies LOL).
Raul_Perez Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Hey!! That looks like my sister!! Too cool, Brian!! I look forward to seeing it at the NNL West in a couple of months!! Later,
nonova Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 If this Vans a ROCKIN' Don't come a Knockin'. Brings back some memories, foggy memories, but memories. Very nice build.
RadRidesByDan Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 That id one awsom build....brings back the days of shag...and I am talkin about both too the dico ball, the water bed, plush finished interiors, and all that fresh smell of inscense.....explains alot of foggy memories to a lot of folks
Custom Hearse Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Nice build Brian! I built one of those a long time ago myself. Glue bomb was an understatement.... Great job!
Joe Handley Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Other than the chick being naked and snorting coke, you captured the "van craze" very well. You thought she looked a little overdressed too, huh Have you guys noticed all the commercials on TV that seem to have 70's era vans in them?
Risto Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Looking great! Just get one of them tiny vibrators and insert it in at a show and your "Love Shack" will be rockin' and knockin' everybody elses rides off the tables. LOL!!! Talk about action! Scary idea.
Aaronw Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Very nice, I haven't seen a van with a mural on the side in years. It would fit right into a Cheech and Chong movie, just needs some smoke coming out of the windows.
Aaronw Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) Brian, just wanted to thank you for posting this, it has inspired me to finish mine, although in a slightly different theme. I started converting this kit into an ambulance several years ago and it has just been laying about collectiong dust. Because of your post I pulled it out and got some paint on it. While not intended as a replica it was heavily inspired by Bill Cosby's ambulance in Mother Jugs and Speed. This is how it has sat for probably 3 years. And yesterday it became this Edited February 1, 2009 by Aaronw
bsoder Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Your welcome Aaron....I'm always trying to inspire ..or maybe that's conspire ? I think I had a M.J& Speed version in mind once for it...BUTTTT...anyways I hope you finish this now
