A nice kit from Italeri. One thing about those kit, they build up quite nicely. I tried to replicate the car on the box art to represent the " star of India ". after a quick search on google , I realized that the box art color was too yellow. The real car is more brownish, I am satisfied with the results, of course never 100 % but close enough for me. The chrome was done with Alclad and has a nice shine in the sun.

As always, thanks for taking the time to look.

Great job Mario on this famous and very expensive car. You really nailed the unusual “saffron” orange and polished aluminum. The Alclad paint work is also very nice - which specific metal shade(s) did you use and what did you spray it over (black lacquer? Enamel?).

Italeri has kitted some interesting 1/24 classic auto subjects. I have the ‘33 Cadillac Fleetwood which I hope to do once I feel a little more competent painting gloss black bodies.

Beautiful looking build. I like the front body work, looks like polished aluminum maybe. With your photography it looks very realistic.

thanks John. Depending on the finish and texture  you want, the base coat is very important, for all metallic shades I used black, for polished finish the shinier the base the shinier the shade. For this model I used the Alclad gloss black base coat, the spray tamiya gloss black works great too. For the metallic I used chrome and airbrushed several mist coats  at 15-20 PSI. I did not clear coated as it changes the shade. It dries hard enough to manipulated.

Outstanding! As nice as the two-tone looks, I would have been tempted to paint the entire car in that gorgeous gunmetal gray color! Very well done at any rate.

Thanks Rusty. I was tempted to do the whole car too but I wanted to reproduce the real car .  But I think it would look awesome fully chromed.
