Another old build of mine - Union's IMC reissue from the 80's, I built this one about 1987, sprayed with car laquer from the can, interior trim, windshield frame and white walls are brushed with Humbol enamels (my preferred paints back then) - a simple box stock build (the unrealistic looking side trim on fenders and body was included in the kit: high-glossy self-sticking mylar stripes).

Just discovered on the Scalemates site that the Testors issue  shows a box model in almost the same colors. This one is still with me,  the pictures show the 20 year old model in 2007.

I remember a few issues with the fitment of the hood and also the doors which I glued shut (remember, this one dates back to the mid-sixties!)

Helmut, that is a good looking build of that kit!  I have had one of the IMC kits for about 20 years.  I got it for a couple of dollars when a local hobby shop closed, and I never got the ambition to build it.  I did build a couple of 48 Ford convertible kits for friends who had them during high school, but I used kits from AMT or Revell.  Every time I open the IMC box I end up closing it and putting it back in the stash.

Now that I see your impressive build, I might just build mine.  The Mercury in the background looks like another impressive build.

Thank you Carl, I would not call it impressive, but it looks o.k. from a distance (it HAS some issues!). By the way, here is my '49 Merc (posted last year):

Your build shows that the fiddly IMC kit is definitely able to hold it's own against the modern Revell version.

Well done.

Thanks, Patrick - if I would still build American cars, I would prefer the modern Revell version.

Quite a beautiful build! I am especially liking the interior. The colors totally remind me of Mr. Miyagi's 1947 Ford Super Deluxe.

Very nice build. First thing that pops in my mind is Mr Miyagi's car from Karate Kid.

Beautiful looking finishes and the body shape looks great, and these kits weren't known for body fidelity. The chrome trim looks really bright, do you recall what you used for the body side trim?

Thank you, David - the chrome trim is self-sticking mylar stripes that were included in the Union kit.
