mark 23 Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Does anybody resin caster do the 67-68 mustang coupe body, or were any model kits ever produced of the 67-68 mustang coupe body ?
vamach1 Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 (edited) No kits. Gerry Chevalier has a 67/68 resin body. He’s on Facebook. Also MotorCity Resin Casters. There are several threads already showing pictures of members builds using at least three different resin versions. As Bill mentioned below there’s his on Ebay and it’s currently at $56. MrObsessive Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 I just 3D printed a couple over the last couple weeks. I sold one on eBay, the other is on there now, and it'll be the LAST for quite some time. My handle there is Obssesivebldr, but be prepared for some fierce competition. The last one I had on there, the bidding was super furious during the last five minutes. Here are some shots of the 3D prints......I don't do direct sales as far as printing for others. Waaaaay too much headaches involved with that. I'll print something, and eventually it'll end up on the 'Bay. Open door one which sold last week............. Closed door one which is on the 'Bay now......... 3

Tom99 Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Do not order from MotorCity Resin Casters. I placed an order in January. In April I emailed them twice in regards to my order, and they still have not responded.

Looks like both of those have the inaccurate fastback quarter panels. 1 1

Yup.....it's why I spent a lot of time hacking up the '66 Mustang and using its upper rear quarters and roofline (modified) on the lower body on my '68 Shelby Green Hornet WIP. A lot of work, but you simply can't put the notchback roof on a Fastback body. The rear quarters on those are "swoopier", thus a bit shorter at the very tail end on the Fastback. Some folks however get a bit miffed when you mention that to them............. 1
Rodent Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 As a 24-year former owner of a 68 coupe, another thing I have noticed is that folks that add the '66 roof to the AMT fastback don't usually capture the way the 67-68 rear window appears more "tunneled" than the 65-66. 2
Dave Van Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Bill, Nice to a correct back window on a 67-68 coupe. I too owned one for 30 years. Sold it 2 years ago......would love to build a model of it!!!! Thx 1
Plowboy Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 It really isn't that hard to make your own with the '66 and '67. 4
Daryl Romain Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 (edited) I was told by the Ford experts in my life that the proper roof to use would be from a Cougar. ('67-'69?) Never tried it. Always wanted a '70 Mustang coupe. Did do a '68 convert, using a Revell '68 fastback and an Amt '66 convertible trunk lid and boot. Replica of my friend Diane's car. Keef Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 HOLY OLD THREAD BATMAN I know but, has anyone found a seller of this body yet? It’s been on my bucket list forever.
Steve Geer Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Hey Keith . . . The Mustang coupe isn’t too difficult to construct if you're up for a little slicing & dicing. Started working on the pictured conversion back around 2013. Used the roof, decklid and upper rear fenders from an AMT ‘66 on the’67 fastback. Modified the rear window surround . . . but then the project stalled. One of these days (years?), I swear I’ll get back to it . . . I also have one of the Motor City Resin Casters’ bodies and it is some superb resin work – absolutely worth searching out.
