I created this image a few weeks ago for the weekly Friday art show on HAMB forum.

I created this image digitally using my home built computer, Photoshop, Topaz Studio 2 & Rebelle 4. A photography of my 1/24 scale diecast was used as reference source.

"Racing in the Salt Flats"

I painted this image completely digitally using a Wacom tablet and Art Rage. Art Rage and Rebelle are digital painting apps which attempt to recreate the traditional painting method. Everything was created the same way one would using pen and paper, except my pen (Wacon tablet), media (Art Rage) and canvas (my home built computer) were digital.

These are fun. Nice work on all of them. That '54 is compelling, in that the vehicle looks so much like it could pass for a pastel. I like the variety of tone and themes on all of them too.

Are there any good affordable drawing programs that let you draw from scratch? Something akin to Paint, but better?

For free hand drawing, sketching & painting I use ArtRage which is on sale presently for $47

A few pro artist, especially comic book and manga artist are using Krita which is FREE.

I've tried Krita and it's a nice program but I go back to Artrage & Rebelle because I know them better and not because they are better.

It is recommended you have a Wacom tablet and stylus attached to your Windows or Mac computer.

At first I did not like the Wacom attached to my Windows computer but after two weeks I would not go back to drawing with a mouse. The stylus nicely replicates the pencil, pen, brush feel depending on which tool you are using in Krita, ArtRage or Rebelle.

Flying Saucers Attack Teenage Hot Rodder

I created this 100% digitally. I sketched everything (except UFO) using ArtRage, a fantastic painting program much like Corel Painter but costs a quarter of the price.

I modeled the UFO in a 3D modelling app named Groboto 3D which is now defunct as Groboto has become Mesh Fusion and part of the 3D modeling app Modo.

A screen capture of the UFO was brought into ArRage where I painted over it.

Further tweaks were done in Photoshop (contrast, color correction, cropping, adding signature, etc).

I created this for  Jalopy Journal's  weekly Friday Art Show.

Dust & Smoke

A traditional styled hot rod coupe leaves a cloud of dust & smoke as it travels along a rural country dirt road.

I created this illustration digitally using Rebelle 4 (sketching & painting), Photoshop CC 2021 (contrast, color adjustment & resizing) & my Wacom Intuos 3 stylus & tablet.

I'm actually kind of impressed by the topology on that UFO...Groboto seems to handle Booleans well!

I did some refinement of the model using 3D Coat and Blender.

Very nice art. I especially like "Competition coup" and "Junkyard Rods". I am an old computer guy but I never tried to do computer art (Yet?). I am trying to learn Blender. Difficult but incredibly powerful. I am releasing a few 50 year old drawings I did while in school. Look for "VERY OLD ART" in Auto Art forum, if you are interested in pencils Look them up in Wiki  ?

Digital illustration I created using Vue by e-onsoftware (3D rendering landscape app), a 3D model I purchased from Cornucopia3D (now out of business). Photoshop used for color correction and adding detail.

Thanks for the info, I think I will get a wacom tablet and have a try with krita software.

"The Chase"

A young hot rodder is chased by the police on a country road. Additional details added using Photoshop.

3D render I did in 2013 using e-onsoftware's Vue renderer which is now free and used in movies like Lord of the Rings.
