landman Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 (edited) A neighbor's friend is selling his Crown Victoria. Initially I was going to post his ad but it likely is against company policy so here are a few photos of it. My neighbor asked me If I could build a model for his friend to remember his car by. She is a beauty. Edited August 26, 2022 by landman 6
landman Posted August 17, 2022 Author Posted August 17, 2022 So I obtained this kit. I may have to steal the continental spare from something else and it won't have those wheel covers. Otherwise, it should be close. 2
TarheelRick Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Will watch this build, that is one beautiful Fairlane. Wish I had the cash to buy it. Those wheels, or some very similar are in the '53 Ford Convertible kit from Lindberg. As for the continental kit, I have seen one, but cannot recollect where, maybe someone else will chime in.
slusher Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Beautiful car to build Pat, I always follow your work..
espo Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 I agree, this was one of the prettiest '50's Ford. I think the AMT Edsel kit had an optional continental kit like the one on your friend's car. The spotlights can be found in the Galaxy '48 Chevrolet kits as well as the fog lights. The Revell '48 Ford has a spotlight but only for the driver's side along with some roof lights that could be used for fog lights. Great looking color combination also.
Maindrian Pace Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Wow, that car looks like a celebration on wheels. Best of luck on the build, sourcing all that gingerbread will be a challenge.
Anglia105E Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Beautiful paint colour combination on that '56 Ford Crown Victoria there Pat . . . I really like most '50's American (and Canadian) motor cars. David

David G. Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 It is a beautiful car. I'm sure you'll do it justice Pat. David G. 1
Zippi Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 That's a really nice 56 Crown Vic and your model should look Awesome. 1
David G. Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 Good detail painting on the chassis, David G. 1
landman Posted August 22, 2022 Author Posted August 22, 2022 Added fuel line to the engine and working on the ignition wiring. 2
landman Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 Getting ready for the scary part. There is an inordinate amount of flash to trim and sand. I takes a bit away from the fun. 2
landman Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 Trying on lids and doors to check the fit. Does anyone know if fender skirts are available for this puppy? Or am I in for a fab job? 1

landman Posted August 26, 2022 Author Posted August 26, 2022 Looking at ways of making the splah pan/bumper extension. First in cardboard, then in plastic. This molding isn't in the kit either. It should be fairly easy to replicate. 1
oldscool Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 I like your work on this one and your engine looks good. 1
espo Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 The chrome rocker moldings should be easily made from some thin flat stock plastic. The larger upright partr on the front fenders were a separate part as I recall but they did butt up against each other. Looks like you have the continental kit figured out.

Yes, it shouldn't be too difficult toi make out of flat stock.
David G. Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 Nice work on the chassis. Now the fun begins, fabbing body bits. David G. 1
