Driving through Champain IL last week and ran across these. I think he said it was a '51 Crosley. Yea Crosley, the car that Frank Lloyd Wright made famous. Fortunately he left the hideous front off it. Note the FoMoCo 2-barrel carbs with 3 adapters under them. Otherwise a nicley executed RR. Also note the turn signals in the firewall.

Right behind that was a really sweet (for a Ford?) Econoline pickup. The owner said he put a 289 and a C4 in it, otherwise is unrestored except for a paint job.

What's in the garage? A One Owner '70 Z-28! He wouldn't open the hood for me but claimed it's a stroker small block with NoS.

In front of that is a '48(?) 'Shivey' Boulevard cruiser.

All in All, a nice little detour during a work day.

The black Chevy may be older than a '48 based on the grill. On the Crosley, a guy I went to school with had one setting under some trees along side of the family garage. The story was that his folks bought it new and parked it when they bought a new car as the dealer wouldn't give them anything for the Corsley. After a couple of other new cars, the Crosley was just set aside and never driven or licensed. My buddy was getting his drivers permit so I helped him get it going as a first car. The little wagon, they also offered a coupe body style, was the same color as the one in the picture above. We lived in the 'B urbs of Chicago, could this be the same car?

You're right, it's a '42

Cool cars. The only Crosleys I ever saw in person where at the Owls Head Transportation Museum in Maine "the Pine Tree state".

Really digging that low down Chevy...
