LONG SILVER: A smooth and low long box 72 Chevy PU in silver Metal flake...

Recommended Posts

HI!

Always loved that body style, but the AMT (nee MPC) kit was a bit disappointing. So: shave the moldings, mold-in the front grille bezel, roll pan and tail gate. Scratchbuild a floor pan, door panels, tunnel and console, rear tubs, tonneau cover and "Texas gate" style tube grille, hood hinges + flush fit smooth tail light, Ridetech compressor and reservoir, disc-brakes, etc. The chassis/powertrain  is the 39 Chevy Wagonrod's Morrisson air-suspended unit, lenghtened to fit. Parts box late Camaro wheels and Dodge Caravan seats. Testor's Diamond dust & clear. Molotow's chrome. Wired & plumbed.

Hours of fun with styrene!

Beautiful looking body work. I like how you hinged the hood and bed covers. Great air ride equipment detailing. The paint really sparkles.

Hi David!

Thank you for the comments.

That Testor Siver Dust extreme lacquer is, indeed, very coarse metallic-wise... like all their metallic line, as a matter of fact. But if you clear and polish to a great gloss, does-it sparkle!

I agree and have used this very paint as a base for a couple of Candy Paint jobs. I really like how you did the body mods and the detailing on this build, very clean looking.
