khier Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) I was inspired by Internet images of boats modified to match Chevy's 1959 Impala/el camino or wagons. I liked the idea and decided to make a digital 1/25th copy. This is where I am right now. There is still the windscreen and interior to do, and of course the trailer. khier Posted September 26, 2022 Author Posted September 26, 2022 Latest WIP: Completed the chrome trim and started the seat.
misterNNL Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 Neat project. I can imagine a number of early cars that would morph neatly in water craft. 1
khier Posted September 27, 2022 Author Posted September 27, 2022 (edited) WIP today: The seat is too large. Back to the drawing board.....? Edited September 27, 2022 by khier 1
khier Posted September 28, 2022 Author Posted September 28, 2022 After going that far I thought why not make a matching phantom nomad? Here is the first pencil sketch: 2

khier Posted September 29, 2022 Author Posted September 29, 2022 WIP today: repeated the seat. The back rest is still too high, or to be precise, the surface of the boat is too low.
khier Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 I hate the advanced stages of the work. The progress becomes too slow. Finalized the seat and created door panels. First digital mock up using STL car from the internet. 1
realgone58 Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 Reinell Jet Flight.......I have a resin '59 Impala 4 door hardtop "flat top" that one of these would look killer behind!
khier Posted October 15, 2022 Author Posted October 15, 2022 Finally some progress. I was stuck with the dashboard. It took me 5 official iterations to reach a somewhat convincing shape.

khier Posted October 24, 2022 Author Posted October 24, 2022 Progress today: The steering wheel started taking shape.
khier Posted October 28, 2022 Author Posted October 28, 2022 The steering column is finished. Now all the components of the boat are complete except the wind shield. Now the boring part will start: kit engineering.
khier Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) Progress today: The trailer started. Axle and wheel details: Edited November 3, 2022 by khier
khier Posted November 5, 2022 Author Posted November 5, 2022 Little progress and a lot of adjustment.
khier Posted November 19, 2022 Author Posted November 19, 2022 I have been working mainly on the trailer's details. Added Jokey wheel and grab handle. Construction phase is now finished, the project moves to the kit engineering phase. Hopefully the parts will be ready to download next week end.
khier Posted November 27, 2022 Author Posted November 27, 2022 It is finally completed and uploaded....THE WAGON IS NOT MINE. IT IS THERE FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY
