Looking forward to this one.

Very interesting that the builder of the promo car above didn`t address the notorious rocker panel divots.

For those unfamiliar with the kit, it has lots of moving parts. The doors open, the t-tops come out, the hatch opens, the headlights open, and it has poseable steering. For me, I build them with everything glued shut. :)

While tempting, I'm sticking to my Monogram kits of this gen Firebird.

Got mine today as a gift. Needless to say, pretty excited.
It does appear that this is a straight reissue, but in light gray plastic and a much expanded, very nice decal sheet! That means the rear bumper, valve covers, muffler, console area, and door panels will need to be corrected to be accurate. But otherwise, very nice kit!

Amy news as to the IROC? That is one kit I am positively giddy to see once again.

I havent heard anything, but I am hoping it isn't far behind. Its challenging and has similar inaccuracies, but builds up convincing.

It certainy does. I built one for a friend when it came out. It still resides in his office to remind him of what he had and what he gave up to have his current family.

He says no regrets, the model makes him happy.

Just made an interesting observation that I missed at first. There is no chrome tree in this kit. Even the wheels and side mirrors are gray plastic. Not at all a big deal to me as there was no chrome on the real car.

Also, I was a little puzzled at first by the two sets of gauges that appear to be the same except for color. Having owned a real 1:1 of this exact car, I can tell you that the top set appear to be “night time” driving colors (the real car’s gauges light up orange at night) and the bottom would be daytime driving.

Hope this helps!

It does, Thank you! I was hoping it might have a bird for the hood included, even though one wasn't offered from the factory. Doesn't change how bad I want this re-issue, though!

I had this version back in 1988, and it included satin-chrome parts, including wheels, side view mirror lenses, the TPI setup, alternator, and valve covers, IIRC.

Have the tires' sidewalls been smoothed over? IIRC, the existing sidewall characters were countersunk into the sidewalls.
