With the wind blowing and it being kinda gloomy out, my idea of spraying the Caddy today is gonna have to wait... so what to do?

Let's start getting another ready for the winter months?

So I opened up the recent ZZ Top/Eliminator release... gotta love that box...

zztop1.jpg.d98ec43ec6baaa9c253de3b134df133b.jpg

I wasn't going to paint anything except that side steps...

zztop2.jpg.fa26681b59723819cb4c7ef16f47c6d7.jpg

Then I realized I was going to have to do some cutting and scrapping to get everything lined up to a decent fit... So scratch that...

Let's go back and start all over....

After a couple hours, I'm finally happy with how everything is starting to unfold...

Stay tuned...

Nice man!!! I just got one from eBay today.  It’s built but looks it’s not a glue bomb. We’ll see.  Can’t wait to see your car.

Love that car. I have two of those I plan to build at some point. One I will build as the original ZZ Ford and the other I want to mate with a Space Shuttle to do the Afterburner cover car. Can't wait to see your build.

I would love to attempt the afterburner version... although way above my skill set most likely.

Only way to learn is to get to cutting. Space shuttles are everywhere. Maybe do a trial run and mate some other cheap body to the shuttle as a practice run. That way you are not sacrificing an expensive hard to find ZZ Top Ford. Then when you get it right, or at least learn what's involved you can go back and do the Afterburner version. Only way and usually the best way to learn is just jump in and do it. Hope that encourages you to try it.

Looking good Jeremy!  Looking forward to more!  I built the ZZ Top '33 Ford many years ago.  Just rebuilt it a couple of years ago.  It's a decent kit, but not the best one out there.

I love the 33. A classic design.

I am intrigued now... Wonder what scale shuttle would suit this?

I did a quick search online, and apparently another builder had luck with a Tamiya 1:100 scale Shuttle Orbiter...

You need to know how wide the body of the Ford kit and the fuselage of the shuttle kit are.

I'd start with the Monogram 1/32 Ford myself then adapt a 1/72 or 1/48,posibly 1/144scale Monogram shuttle, I really don't know the widths anymore but I did look into it back 30 years ago when I was thinking about doing this. Both kits should be cheaper to start with and less work since it's a smaller scale.

THEN build a car wash bay. ??

I have not started mine yet, but I have a couple 1/100th scale and I think I have a 1/144 and 1/72 as well. They are cheap and easy to find.  Starting at 10 to 12 bucks on Amazon. I'd get a cheap one, since most of the detail on the more expensive ones are in the cargo bay and not the outside of the orbiter.

Well what I discovered during the final assembly... When I lined everything up, I taped all the panels together so I could paint the whole body for coverage. The hood is stuck to the body, and I ain't breaking it loose cuz I don't wanna risk jacking the paint up. I also decided to black out the windows cuz I liked the way my Christine looked with it.

This is only shot I'm gonna upload til I can get some good ones. Then I'll put it under glass.

Thanks for following along...
