Slotto Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 About 25-30 years old. It's time for a refresh. Plan on keeping the same color. Will redo the interior. Lavender? What the heck? Articulating front wheels and engine and bay clean-up. sit tight
rickcaps55 Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 I have to tell you just about the only thing i would do is a new set of wheels that would go with the wide whites and add a bit of detail to the interior. 1
Slotto Posted October 17, 2022 Author Posted October 17, 2022 Thanks guys, I'm trying to save some $ and update a few of my earlier builds to today's skill level. What makes it more enjoyable is that is something I originally built and I dont have to fix others mistakes or deal with great big globs of glue. I am finding that I like them more than I used to. Not sure if this one is going to have updated wheels or not. 1
KWT Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Looking forward to this... already looks good though. 1
Slotto Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 Decided to strip the interior and chassis. Interior will now be white with grey carpet. the original paint was enamel. It was thick and almost filled in the panel gaps. I did the best I could to try to reveal them. The paint has its flaws but i dont want to get into stripping it. I was hoping for a quick rebuild on this one. i went after the grille with flat black acrylic and some water to give it some depth Getting the engine sorted out. Added new wires, pulleys and heater hoses. I found these at Wally World. I'm using them as hose clamps. Pretty neat Stay Tuned...
Slotto Posted October 19, 2022 Author Posted October 19, 2022 While the interior and chassis is in the stripper, I tried to take it one step further by detailing the emblems. Hard on these old eyes. Also tried to give some depth to the SS hubcaps. Also working on the steering components 1
slusher Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Very nice refresh, I did a few of mine years ago! 1
Slotto Posted October 21, 2022 Author Posted October 21, 2022 front suspension in place and doing its job. Now on to the interior. Stay Tuned...
Slotto Posted October 24, 2022 Author Posted October 24, 2022 liberated the door cards from the rest of the interior and dropped them off at the strippers. added a fuel line trying something new. A grabbed a mini zip tie for the battery cable hold down. I'll pull em tight during final assembly. Might use a other for the heater hoses. Stay Tuned...
Slotto Posted October 26, 2022 Author Posted October 26, 2022 Got the carpet in and am waiting for the white to dry before chroming the door cards and dash. engine in place. I guess I went a little over zealous with the glue. My air cleaner warped a bit. Stay Tuned...
crazyjim Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 Michaels carries (used to anyway) carry a variety of sizes of those crimp tubes. Beadalon was the manufacturer.
