What is your favorite Youtube model channel?

When I discovered miniatures and wargaming painting I wanted to learn how they got the effects and finishes they achieved. Youtube is a valuable resource. There are a lot of people willing to share techinques they have either discovered or learned from others. Gone are the days of people playing it close to the vest to win contests with techinques they learned or discovered and decided to keep it to themselves. There is a plethora of talented people taking the time to make videos of things they've learned so you to can employ them on your next project.

I learned a great deal about painting with a great many hours spent watching techniques being demonstrated right before me.

My painting skills increased in a way I didn't think possible. I have minis I painted when I first started, and when I compare them to something I just finished I realize just how much Ive learned. And it was all FREE!

So, I ask you. Do you have a favorite builder? A favorite channel? A favorite search on Youtube that you use to inspire,  learn pr just entertain yourself?

I have several, but hands down it has to be A4 Garage. The man is a master of making scale working anything. You really have to see his work. He shows you step by step how he achieves wonders in metal and styrene.

I have never consulted a youtube video for any model related issues or techniques. However, I have a project I've been working on that requires a figure to be posed with the car. I've never done a figure before, and I'm completely unfamiliar with the techniques used to achieve the very high degree of realism I require. I've put a lot of thought into how I will approach some elements of the figure build, and working in isolation, I've come up with some solutions. But there are some aspects of the figure where I need outside help to get the desired result, and I'm looking for an online forum that specialises in figures, where I can lurk and pick up some tips. However, I suspect youtube will also come to the rescue for some of that, too.

His channel is a tremendous resource. He covers paint like no other and his slight accent (NY upstate) sounds familiar and pleasant to my ears.

For me, I really like HPI guys.  I find a lot of the other Youtubers get super detailed and not very much fun.  For instance, International Scale Modeler.  He's a very nice guy, and i've learned some tricks from him.  But man, he does something like 7 or 8 colour coats, preceded by 4 or so primer coats and 3 or 5 coats of 2k clear.  Good lord, is that really necessary?  It seems like work at that point, rather than fun.  And the 2k clear:  Not only is it highly toxic, but it doesn't look right.  It looks too shiny, and unnatural.  But, that's just me.  Scale Modelling Channel is also like this.  

That's why I like HPI guys.  He build kinda like I do.  Spray paint, 1 or 2 coats, finished painting the body in under 3 minutes.  Lots of brush painting (which I like to do, I don't get the point of airbrushing small, tiny parts (especially when they are mostly covered by other parts).  

To each their own though.  Everyone builds differently and enjoys different parts of the build.  Some like to be super detailed, and airbrush everything.  Others, not so much.  

Having said that, these channels are very hypnotic to watch!  Very relaxing!

I have a couple friends that I watch like Chuck's Hobby Spot and BG's Model Workshop. I also enjoy Mark Batson as he gives some great tips and is such a down to earth guy. ModelCarVideos provides a neat perspective, and I still watch HPIGuy on a regular basis, it is just plain fun and back to childhood to see them come together so fast, but he has been very helpful more than once with his unboxing reviews to see what was being included in the releases. There are several others that are simply Top Notch such as A4 and Hobby Robby, but some of those videos are far between.

I have certainly learned from him... and I don't think he's a bad guy, just a shameless self promoter and a bit cocky... 

I love how he speaks like his methods are the ONLY things that work. Comes off as kind of a model car doomsday preacher.

he does produce some really nice models. Not always my style, but seriously nice!

For detail he does seem to let aftermarket parts/products do alot of the heavy lifting outside of his paint jobs though, wich I'm not a huge fan of. It seems kinda like "pay to win" sometimes.

Admittedly I do use the same method for painting bodies, but I started doing that before I discovered him. 

Overall he is very, very knowledgeable and is skilled modeler and seems to really love and care about the hobby in his own way.

A blast to listen to... he had one video where he recommended people use Tamiya cotton applicators to clean an airbrush ? then to buy $15 natural bristle paint brushes for enamel paint....

I paint wargaming miniatures for money, and I'll tell you from experience... don't waste money on a nice Windsor and Newton series 7 or equivalent to use with oils or enamels... synthetic is just as good even for tiny detail and it lasts longer, has less maintenance and is monumentally cheaper. The nice brushes are great for Acrylics... blending etc... but not solvents.
