Model railroad stripe decals made for HO scale might work for you...

https://www.hobbylinc.com/woodland-gold-stripes-010,-1:64,-022,-1:32,-3:64-wide-model-railroad-scenery-mg761

NOTE: Smallest actual line thickness is .010", which would be a 1/4 inch stripe on a real car (if you're working in 1/25 scale).

I use Chart Pack tape , 1/64 wide , picked it off e-bay .

Available on amazon , but you'll have to cut it down to the size you need .

I'll second the use of Chart Pack tape. I used it (or could have been a similar brand) to do the pin stripes on this Miata.

Did you cut the width, how did you do it, it’s very neat. Do you think it would bend?

The narrowest Chartpak Tape available is 1/16" , you could buy it wider but I'm not sure how you would cut it .  I can tell you that it will bend for gradual curves but nothing drastic , if you want small radius bends then buy the Crepe Chartpak Tape , the crepe tape bends very easily and stays put !  Only downside is it's thickness and it doesn't have a smooth finish , it's cheap enough you can buy a roll and test it yourself .

Here's a link to Amazon . I bought both the Blk Crepe and Blk Gloss to compare them .

For the really adventurous, you could get a Fingernail Liner brush and try your hand at free-hand pin striping.  Thinnest brush I have ever seen!  I recently picked up a set but I have not tried it yet...

Well with my lack of patience and my shaking I think this brush would be a disaster for me.

But I do appreciate all suggestions and ideas.

It's available in 1/64. I have some.

You can also get self adheasive fingernail stripping in sizes down to 0.5 mm which would be about 1/2 an inch in 1/25 scale.

There was no cutting of the tape. This is the width that it came in. Sorry but I don't remember where I got it, and the little plastic bag it came in doesn't say what size it is.  I know I found it somewhere on the internet, but i don't think it was from Amazon or eBay.

Here is a picture of it on a piece of plastic. It definitely bends! You can see the size of the roll of tape - enough to last a lifetime. I have 2 more rolls like this (3 rolls was the minimum order!).

The model is 1/25 scale. My best guess is that it was probably 1/64" tape. I am pretty sure I would have bought the narrowest width available.

I know you need gold, but if anyone wants one of the other two rolls of black tape that I have, send me a PM and we can work something out! I have way more striping tape than I would ever need!

Thanks Steve !  For some reason I just never really searched for smaller sizes , but $20 is outrageous . Go to Chartpak Factory Store for normal prices on both the 1/64" and 1/32 " tapes . . . $8.85 per roll .

I've had fair luck masking and painting a few pin stripes.

Use Tamiya tape, (or similar) with a freshly cut edge to get a clean, straight edge, and then spray the color with an air brush.

Extremely light coats shot from a little ways away straight onto the subject will help to prevent bleed.

The advantages of using paint is that you can get an exact color match and tapered ends if you desire.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, think I will use this decal sheet. Quite a bit of stripes on it.92AE66E8-953C-4238-9E1B-091146AD0235.png.1c3fa911fd8c6acfb02e73e688a32139.png

That should work. I was to want pin stripes I would create them on my PC then print them on water slide decal paper. The tricky part would be getting the color right. However, with inkjets, gold is not an option.
