JasonC Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Finished this 1983 Dodge Shelby Charger a couple of days ago. Didn't turn out to bad for an old MPC kit! This kit did come with the 85-87 Turbo hood and 5 lug Pizza wheels. I swapped in a 2.2 TII out of a MPC 88 Daytona kit. Did a bunch of extra details on it. I made my own exhaust and used a muffler out of a Revell Tuner kit. Tires are parts box, FMIC is a 4th gen F body radiator cut down. Interior I added flocking and a Pistol grip shifter. Painted it with Dupli-color Chrysler Dark Garnet Red Pearl with a Nissan Silver and topped with Dupli-color clear. The direction of this model is based off of a 86 that I had. Although I had Crab wheels on mine. 12
polybius Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Very nice! These kits were finicky and you've done it justice!
Dragonhawk1066 Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Well done! I've always liked those little cars!
AMT68 Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Great looking build. I remember these but have never seen a built scale model.
70 Sting Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 (edited) Brings back a lot of memories from the 80’s. Nice build and thanks for the short trip back in time.? Edited December 10, 2022 by 70 Sting
larman Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 That's really cool! You don't see them built much and yours is done extremely well!

espo Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Great looking paint work and interior. Your extra efforts on the drive train and exhaust look good.
Joe Handley Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 I love it, nice touch with the pistol grip shifter too!
Spottedlaurel Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 I really like what you've done with this one, great work on the subtle upgrades and mod's. By coincidence I have one sitting in my auction site watchlist, it's a bit of an oddball from the era I really like. Having seen yours I'm tempted to give it a go.
yellowsportwagon Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Real nice obscure build! Well done.
drodg Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 This is really nice. I had a Charger 2.2 as a demo back in the days of my early car dealer experience.
Bainford Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Cool! It's good to see one of these kit given a quality build. Neat period engine swap.
