jjsipes Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Guess this will be my last build for 2022. Continuing my Nascar Champions Builds, this is my 1978 Winston Cup Championship winning Oldsmobile driven by Cale Yarborough. Not perfect but will do. Started with Salvino JR Model kit. Tamiya paints, Powerslide Decals 3
Pierre Rivard Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 Nice build Jason. A shame Salvinos did not leverage the Monogram tooling for the chassis to make a better replica. You absolutely maximized the results possible with this chassis and as usual your paint finishes are impeccable.
jjsipes Posted December 31, 2022 Author Posted December 31, 2022 Thanks guys. Like said, it's not the best but, it will do. I applied a coat of Future over the entire model prior to final assembly but the Future appears to have cracked. Have been hearing that it does that when applied over acrylics for some reason. I used Tamiya primer and paints. I left the paint dry for a couple weeks and then applied the decals and left them dry for a week. Then applied a coat of Future over it.
Bruce Scully Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 A really nice looking build , well done .
MarkJ Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Very clean and beautiful , Jason. I see no flaws at all. Love the attention to detail.
GMasterG Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Hi. Nice job. I'm building this car now. Could you tell me please what color you used for the lower side trim yellow/gold? Thanks
Old Buckaroo Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 That's a really fine looking buildup of one of my favorite drivers. I loved this era of Nascar.
Thedragsterdude Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Hey, hey, hey, man this is so AMAZING, AWESOME & COOL! I love old nascar

bobss396 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I have one of their Lemans kits started (BACK IN THE BOX...), of course another stalled project. At least that one seems to use a similar chassis to the GMP Regal. I had to add filler material to parts of the rear chassis and firewall, the gaps were large. But they build up nicely as yours did. I just got their Gray Ghost kit.
Rattlecan Dan Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 That's a really nice job! Very sharp car.
