charger74 Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 For somethings little different, lets see where this goes !! 5
espo Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Never realized this kit existed. Got roped into buying one when they first came out. The alimony was worth it to get rid both problems. 1 5
doorsovdoon Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Love these unusual kits. Look forward to seeing your progress on this one? 1
AMT68 Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Occasionally I see these on ebay but they are quite rare as mentioned. Are those plastic tires in that bag?

Yes, The kit has plastic tires for the stock version and rubber tires for the rallye version. I’m doing it stock so i have to find with black to use when i paint the tires to make them look realistic
Classicgas Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Very cool. I want one of these. I owned a baby blue 77 2 door. 2
charlie8575 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Another one I'm hoping to see come back out sooner than later. I'll be watching this one. Charlie Larkin
mustang1989 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 WOW!! Now THIS......is definitely cool. Looking forward to watching this one come along. 1

Styrene tyres can actually look better (more realistic) than the vinyl/rubber versions. The paint is available in both aerosol and bottle; I have one of each. Nice Chevette, BTW. I have this exact kit in the stash. So many extra, diorama parts! 1
doorsovdoon Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 (edited) Nice colour choice. Lovely looking blue. In the UK we had the Vauxhall Chevette, also a GM product. Looks almost identical to the Chevy. Edited January 3, 2023 by doorsovdoon 1

WGaree Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 GM did borrow the world wide version of the chevette and reworked it for the american laws as they had no small car for america to save time and $$$ got to say those small bumpers look so much better than our girders errr bumpers
Tom Geiger Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 This is a very nice kit to build. Full engine and chassis detail. My wife’s younger sister had a lime green one. I helped her buy it and wound up as it’s caretaker. It was a bulletproof little brute. I built her a copy of hers and gave it to her a few years back 1
rickcaps55 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 I like these kits i have two of them this one and a 79 witch i just finished back in the 70's MPC put out some great kits i wish i had all the ones i had back then. nice color looking forward to seeing this one done.!

David G. Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 This should be an interesting build. You have my attention. David G.
charger74 Posted January 29, 2023 Author Posted January 29, 2023 Here is a little update, the interior is done, and the engine is almost done. The stock tires from the kit were 2 half of tires that i had to glue together, all in white plastic. I painted them with tamiya black rubber paint. I’m still not sure if i keep the lettering on the tires in black or if i paint it white 1
dino246gt Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Looking good! That blue looks fantastic!! Rubber black makes those tires look better than if they were actually vinyl or whatever kit tires are, nice! 2
mikemodeler Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 I have two to build and have some ideas but I think one will be bone stock. What color/brand is that blue, it looks pretty close to factory.
