I picked up this kit and took it to my grandma so she could read the box for me.

a2qnGOn.jpeg

After translating for me she got really excited and told me she couldn't wait to see it finished so I told her I would only work on it when I was with her.

This is a real simple kit with a low parts count, so the hardest part is going to be waiting for painting weather.

The box art shows these over sized fender flares that I don't much care for, so I was happy to see that they weren't molded to the body, it just has the factory rear fender flares.

I think if I narrow the track width and lower the suspension a bit, the kit wheels will look good.

I was also happy to see that it came with a carbon fiber hood decal, because I was going to do that anyway.

More next time.

I trimmed the wheels a bit to narrow the width so the tires would fit under the fenders.

There were spacers in the front fender wells where the struts attach that i trimmed flush to bring the front down.

The rear has a promo style metal axle, so I just opened the hole it goes in a bit more to lower the rear.

And here's a mock up.

I think I'm going to try to bring the front down a bit more.

More next time.

I painted the wheel centers gold, I like the look and I think it will go well with the paint color I have picked out.

AiEQiFY.jpeg

I wanted to get the front down a little more so I drilled where the top of the strut mounts so it could pass through.

cutThJP.jpeg

I then glued a piece of scrap plastic to the top and drilled a hole so the strut could mount like it was originally intended, giving about another scale inch drop.

The kit came with 2 steering wheels, 2 spoilers and 2 sets of front seats, I'm going with the ones on the left.

I got the stance where I want it and we had enough of a break in the weather to get some primer on the body.

CzCzlkT.jpeg

Because I raised the mounting location for the top of the struts, I had to make spacers for the bottom so they could connect to the lower a arms.

I also notched the frame to provide clearance for the steering linkage.

Looks nice! I just did some gold rims myself; based them black and went over with metallic gold, using an airbrush.

Did you paint those entirely by hand? The two-tone looks really good.

Thanks. The wheels came silver and I just colored the centers with a gold sharpie.

Wow! I've seen where sharpies get used for black trim/gasket stuff, but never even thought about other colors.

Stay tuned, I'm going to be using yellow, orange and red sharpies for the lights.

Great to see you making good progress on this one. Despite being fairly basic it goes together very nicely.

I went with similar size wheels and what look to be the same tyres on mine:

1:24 Fujimi Nissan Skyline GT-R kit

Just looked to see how I lowered mine. It looks as if I struggled with a clash between the front suspension lower arm and the wheel (even with the back sliced off), so rather than use spacers under the struts I cut off the original arm and glued a new one in place higher up.

Nice build! I did have to sand the lower a arms just a bit to keep them from rubbing on the wheels.

I colored some of the lights with appropriate colored sharpies.

idKQqTe.jpeg

I painted the calipers and springs red for a splash of color, even though they mostly can't be seen

RL8878z.jpeg

I painted some of the molded in details and added the exhaust and suspension finishing the chassis.

I got the interior done. I thought it was odd that the side panels had this pleated detail, but nothing else, no arm rests, no window cranks, not even a door seam.

3EdOY8v.jpeg

I used some brown paint to simulate the wood trim and installed the seats, shifter and e brake.

The kit came with gauge decals, they are nice but I had a harder time putting them in than I thought I would.

All I have left to do is paint but we're getting 6" to 10" of snow in the next couple days, so I probably won't be able to post another update for a while.

I got the carbon fiber decal on the hood. It gave the setting solution a run for its money, but it turned out okay.

ivqV23j.jpeg

The decal wasn't quite wide enough, I'm hoping it won't be too noticeable once it's done.

iIlvenK.jpeg

I'm going to let it set up over night then wash it and see how it reacts to a light clear coat.

Wow, awesome progress!  Like the clean interior and exterior color as well.

One thing I noticed-  Fujimi’s carbon fiber decal has literally “X” line as carbon pattern, I am thinking this was something Fujimi could have done a better job..

I agree, the X pattern was kinda lazy on their part. It's one of those things that's not really noticeable, but once you see it, you can't un-see it.

She's out of paint. I got the fender flares painted and most of the decals on, she just needs chrome and final assembly.
