This is a different style muscle car build that I really like

Hi Brock, based on your number of posts,  looks like you are fairly new to the forum. Welcome, and thanks for the comments. Stay tuned, as I hope to keep some progress coming soon.

I love the "out of the box" thinking and execution going into this build. Keep it up!

Thanks Gary! Slowly getting rolling again with this one. I’ve got most of the “heavy lifting” done, hoping to start some actual assembly soon.

Thanks for having a look guys. I did have a productive paint session yesterday, I will get a bit more done, and hopefully have a bit of an update in the next couple of days.

Cheers, Steve

Hi guys, finally a bit of progress to show.
Body work is complete, and the base coat of black is done. Quite satisfying to finally have some colour!

I’m going to let the black sit for a few days before continuing with the next steps.

The interior paint is well under way too. Base colours are grey and green. There will be black trim, and as you can see a couple of hits of gold which will tie in with the wheels, and eventually some engine parts as well. I opted to paint the paddle shifters body colour in hopes they won’t disappear in the completed interior.

I will be adding a fair bit of detail painting to the door cards, and still some detail to add to the console and seats. The dash is still a work in progress also, need to make my final choice on gauges then get it painted and detailed. The chassis mods are done and paint has begun, but the paint is going to be a multi step process and take some time.
Seeing parts with some colour on them (FINALLY) has me motivated to keep moving forward. Hoping to have weekly updates til she’s done.

Thanks for having a look, and as always, comments are welcomed.

Cheers, Steve

Great color choice on awesome car. That green is stunning on that interior.

Thanks Bill! The green was a “maybe” colour, but once I put it next to the grey, and body colour I really liked it.

Wow, that interior is stunning! What a bold colour choice and it really works, I love it!

Yes sir, it was a bit of a bold choice, (for me anyway) but I think it will look good once fully assembled. Thanks for having a look.

A small update… anyone see a theme…??

Finally made some inner front fenders, and started work on the front air dam/splitter.

The inner fenders will get a carbon fibre decal later. I’m still tinkering with the splitter, it was a bit too blah like this…

I also have some modest progress on the engine. Things are just temporarily tacked together with white glue here. Oh ya, the completed speaker box is there too.

The intake trumpets will be bootlace ferrules painted black. I will do some basic detailing on the engine, but not going to get too carried away.

Also completed the steering wheel and column. This is my first attempt at paddle shifters, and I THINK they look ok??

Im pretty sure I have a Caddy decal that will work on the centre of the wheel. If not I’ll find something suitable.

That’s it for now, I was hoping for a bigger update. The good news is fall is coming, and that always means more bench time. Thanks for having a look.

Cheers, Steve

Quick update! I have been making modest progress with this build.
Got the chassis painted yesterday. Sooooo…
This afternoon I managed to get some parts glued on!!

I carried the body colours to the underside as well. Next up is assembling the engine, choosing some disk brakes for the wheels, then finishing those assemblies. Once that’s done, assemble the interior components which are really close to being ready. Hoping to get final colour on the body by next weekend. Still a bunch of small detail stuff to sort out but it feels good to glue some parts together.?

Cheers, Steve

Hi Steve, What a great build, being so adventurous with all the modifications! Just went over your entire thread to catch up with it. I’m just getting back to the workbench now after health issues and being down south. Hope to see your project in person soon.
Cheers Misha

Hello Misha!! I’m just getting back to the desk myself. It’s been a busy spring/summer, but I’m excited to get back to building regularly, fall is here. Thanks for having a browse thru the thread, as you would have noticed, progress has been sloooooooooow…. I hope your health issues have been taken care of, we will see you soon!

I’m in love with this build so far!!! I have to ask what color is that green? That shade just really POPS!

Hi Keith, I appreciate the kind words. The paint is “Automotive Touch Up” GM Vedoro green. I’m doing a base coat of semi gloss black, then the green, followed by Mr. Hobby super smooth matte clear on the smaller parts. For the body, (not painted yet) same except that I am doing two light coats of Pearl clear over the green, then the matte clear. This gives it a bit more “shimmer” but still a matte finish. Very similar to the pro touring Camaro I did last year but green instead of burgundy. Thanks for your interest, let me know if you need any more info on the paint. Still hoping for painting the body by end of next weekend. ?

Thanks for taking the time to have a look and comment guys. I gotta get this one done, as I have 2 more projects that I hope to have done before Christmas.
Cheers, Steve

I just read the whole thread. Nice choice on the chassis, I would never thought of using a WC chassis under a non stock car build. Making it up as you go along, that is the fun part.
